Whoo hoo!    Just saw that my status has changed from Standard to Veteran Member.  I'm so excited! (Seriously.)  I love these boards.

I read a statistic in the paper once that said Walmart settles a case or has a judgement on a case made every HALF HOUR!!!!!  (That's on average of course)

That's insane!

You're SO right about after Sam Walton died.  I read his autobiography and it's such a shame.  He built his business with all the right morals and ideas, but once it got big and corporate suits got involved it started evolving into the monster it is today.

The thing is, it can't be stopped.  People shop there in droves because ultimately they want the best value for their money, and Wal-Mart usually provides it.  But they do it at the expense of their employees and other businesses in the community.

They would be THRILLED if they were the only retailer in town.

It's really very sad.  I've watched the music business go from a cool industry where every city had 100 or more little record stores to a conglomorate controlled joke where every city has 3 maybe 4 major music outlets and the only mom & pops left are usually relegated to selling used CD's.

These big box retailers couldn't care less about you or your needs.  In most cases the teenager they hired to tend the store can't help you with any artist other than Snoop Dog or 50 Cent.

It really is a shame.

Wal-Mart was a big part of that destruction, and they're doing it to other industries as well now.

I've noticed all of our local pharmacies are GONE, taken over by the Wal-Marts and the Walgreens.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Here's a Shout out to good Weeks...

LW Is one of the better weeks I can remember (except for a few small things)

Everyone I wanted to win on Sunday won(Bears, Bucs, & Steelers + Dale Earnhardt Jr)

I bowl twice a week, and I had my 2nd best series ever (661) on thursday, which won me some money in a handicap pot...On Wednesday I didn't do as well, But I won a $35 Dollar mystery pot...So good week there,

I collected $34 in McD's Best Buy Bucks...and just before I went to go spend it on a $50 game (so $16 + tax) a friend of mine said "I never use these things anyway" and gave me his $9...So I got a $49.99 Game for $7.49...With Tax!!!

I am such an adult kid...I still play games, & I am a Toy collector, And after searching for weeks I finally found 3 figures I've been wanting...Plus 2 more figures that JUST CAME OUT the day before...I don't have to hunt for weeks now.

My Parents (which sadly I still live with til I can find a better paying job & move out) left on vacation for a week & a half Saturday

All in all a good week, This week didn't start as well (Sunday I had an All Day Migraine Headache forcing me to cancel plans w/ some friends...but it did feel good to sleep ALL DAY), but It can only go up....knock on wood

Wow!  That does sound like it was a pretty good week!

Nice thought to post a POSITIVE rant in the shout box once in awhile.

Sadly, I don't have a positive rant of my own right now.  Although, in general, I'm pretty happy, so I guess that's ok.

I'm in the process of trying to get a new job that should I be hired for would send me to Florida for four weeks of training.

THAT would mean I'd miss the late December / early January HELL that is a Wisconsin winter.

If THAT works out for me then I'll be SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAMING the joy here in the shout box!

O.K.  Here's a new one.  Don't you hate it when you go to Walmart and you're shopping and you hear someone's kid screaming bloody murder because their idiot mom decided that she was old enough to decide for herself that she wanted her ears pierced even though she's only four years old?  Yeah, I was THAT mom yesterday.  What a lamebrained decision.  I got ONE of my four year old's ears pierced yesterday.  It took another hour of coaxing and cajoling to try and get the other one done and in the end, I ended up just plain lying and saying they were going to do a "practice" run.  Yeah.  Not a fun time at Wally World. I don't like lying to my kid and I don't like looking like an a...donkey in a public place.  It was horrible.  The worst part was that a woman I haven't seen in five years comes up and starts talking to me as my child is shrieking.  I wanted so badly to say "Get a clue, I'm kinda busy here!", but I refrained.  Ahhh...Yesterday I was such the queen of self control, who felt like everything was out of control.

Glad you had a good week Mocrzy.
