David Lee Roth, paramedic trainee??

any one else hear this story? DLR, age 50, is training in NYC to be a paramedic? While obviously admirable, do you suppose he squandered his fortune on gold statues of himself and hot tubs filled with champagne??

I find myself getting angry about this. I sure hope DLR was not so stupid to squander his $ away so much that he needs to be doing this for survivals sake. He was the king of 1981-1984, I hope he had enough sense to establish his financial security and protect his nest egg. He certainly had more of an ample chance to do so than most of us to do. I believe however he might have been stupid enough not to have.

I'll tell ya what.

David Lee Roth WAS THE DEFINITION OF COOL in the 80's, and NOTHING hurts me more than to watch him being incapable of growing up.  He's still hanging out with four 20 year old girls on each arm, and dressing & acting as if he were 25 himself.  At least, up until recently.

I did read the story about his becoming an Emergency Worker, and it appears he's dead serious about it.

He saved some guys life a few months ago, using a defibrilater, and I don't know if that's what got him interested in it or what, but it appears at age 50 he's found a new calling.  One of the woman that work with him said that you'd never know he was a rock and roll star, because he's so serious and sincere in his desire to help people.  He's been on over 200 emergency runs already!

I was just joking about this with a friend.  We were laughing at a line Roth said  that went something like "I don't want any publicity around this, I've done over 200 runs so far and never been recognized and that's exactly the way I want it".  We were laughing about how most of these people probably WOULDN'T recognize him since after all they are in the middle of a MASSIVE HEART ATTACK!

But, in the end, I don't think the guys broke or anything, I think he's just a 50 year old guy who doesn't have to worry about money, isn't really able to go BACK to what he used to do (not on any commercial level anyway) and decided to follow another path that interests him.

I was kind of excited to hear the story.
