One of our guys who volunteered to be laid off is packing his desk... he shows one of the other guys this dried lemon that has been in his cubicle for something like a year.

The other guy: "Is that mold on that lemon?"

Guy who is leaving: "I really don't know what it is."

Other guy: "So you are saying your cubicle is possibly a biohazard?"

Etch (jumps up from seat): "I don't even know if that can catch on fire."

The ORIGINAL Etch & I had a conversation today:

Etch: "I finished that request that you asked me to do."

Me: "Good"

Etch: "Guess what?  When I was in (system) I found 8 other requests from you."

Me: "Really?"

Etch: "Yeah.  I found out I was searching in the system wrong.  I couldn't find the request you sent me in email so I asked (our boss) about it.  She showed me what to do."

Me: "That's good"

Etch:  "I'll tell you what I told her...I'm not a slacker.  I'm just a dummy."

w00t.gif Haven't worked with that particular Etch-A -Sketch in like 6 years now, but the level of stoopid never changes.

And for the record, I agree. That Etch works harder at not working than I have EVER worked at actually doing my job. AND he is still a dummy.

Oh no, my Etch is back at it. I was watching a clip on YouTube that a friend sent me while eating my lunch. She came into my office saying, "What are you listening to, static?"

There was a car in it, so it was probably the engine noises. I said, "I'm watching a video clip."

She just couldn't understand it. "Like watching TV?"

"Sorta, except on the computer."

"Like on MySpace?"

"Well this one is on YouTube."

"Don't you get news and stuff on there?"

"Yeah, there's videos of almost anything."

"I need to check that out, I've heard about it."

My Etch just told me to delete the old versions of a flyer that I've done for this customer before.

I don't think so! See, I have brains, I just date my files to be sure I'm not using the old one.

As I was typing this, she told us she was headed out for the day because she has to go to physical therapy. She said, "You know, I wish it was MENTAL therapy!" Yeah, so do I.

My etch was apparently in the running for being "voluntold" to leave, but we had enough people volunteer that nobody out of our manager group was "voluntold".  On the up side, just any time now I will have a new Etch story as one of our volunteers left a parting gift for her. She just has yet to find it.

The Etch just came looking in my office for another lost job ticket. She loses them all the time. As I'm looking through my organized stack (that she wanted to look through, but there was no way I was letting her), she says, "How do these things vanish in thin air?"

Well, perhaps if you'd stop popping pills long enough to remember, and use a bit of organization, they wouldn't "vanish."

She's getting on my nerves again today.

mine was in here and I thought I would blow my top or puke I was so angry. She can't count to 8, can't remember to tell me that she made an appointment, can't recird correct phone numbers and can't remember that an undecided mjor means nothing to me!

I caught Emily talking to herself in the bathroom this morning. I was glad that she was alone...but that is early to start talking to yourself! She is a true blonde!

Etch "How do you use it?"

Me "Um, you just use it?" How the hell am I supposed to answer that question?

Me "Did you go to CompanyX.com?"

Etch "Yes"

Me "Did you click on Login?"

Etch "Yes"

Me "Did you enter the correct login information?"

Etch "Yes, but it's telling me it's wrong."

Me "See where it says Forgot Password?"

Etch "So I put in my email and they'll send it to me?"

No, they'll just sit there and laugh at you.

Then she calls me to complain about the new website. It's buggy, but I like it when it works right. The things she's complaining about are just because she's not paying attention. I think she's disappointed that I didn't join in the whining with her.

The etches have been busy around here too.

There is one group of friends that are customers and they are CONSTANTLY losing/forgetting their usernames and passwords. I've had to give them info on four accounts in the last couple days.

You know, she'll go days at a time keeping her etchiness to herself, and then she has days like these where she'll bug me about tons of little things that just take a little common sense to figure out.  Continuing the corn quips doesn't help.  This morning she asked me if I was out of my "purple corn haze."  So I guess the answer depends on how many days in a row she inflicts her etchiness on me.
