Thursday... the long, dark, tea time of the soul...

Good day, all. This week just keeps dragging along... but hey, it is almost the weekend.

Not a lot going on here. I finished up a project I was given late yesterday afternoon. Waiting on another small request that is supposed to be sent my way sometime today.

Hope everybody has a great day.  For myself, hoping to stay awake.

Hey there . . .

It's going to be a nice day here. A few farmers are starting to prepare for, and even plant the corn.

I'm kind of sleepy here too . . . but that's pretty normal for me.

Howdy.

Hurry weekend! I swear, the wait is going to kill me...

Meanwhile, I'm really not in the mood for excuses. We wrapped up a job in Mexico a couple weeks ago, and our tools are finally at the border. I've asked the warehouseman (because it's his job) to find out when we will expect them back at the shop, but his response is, "I've e-mailed them, but they haven't replied." So I ask him if he's called the broker, and he says, "I' don't know who they are using." I tell him that he should have that information because the customer uses the same broker every time we go down there. His response is, "I don't have the phone number." I glared at him and told him, "Nevermind, I'll make the call." He turned and walked away. I waited until I heard the door close then I paged him back to my office and told him, "I was just kidding. I'm not calling; you are. Here's the phone number and the contact." Then he had the nerve to be all huffy about it!

Still waiting... still waiting....

Meanwhile, I did spend a bit of time sympathizing with Lee for his situation: 14 yr old step-daughter and her mother locked in a battle of wills. It is a no-win really. He obviously can't take a side.

Mrs Web's expense check arrived! Yay!

I wish we could just be happy that it's over and done with, but no . . .

~ On Monday, they said the check was delayed because they lost her expense report and they didn't know how much they owed her, but they had found it and were sending it out that day.

~ The check arrived today: 5/3/12

~ The check is dated: 4/13/12 (one day short of three weeks ago)

~ They are not being truthful about the "lost expense report" since the check was written before they supposedly lost the report

So, my wife wants to know the real reason why it was delayed. I suggested we just deposit it and move on, but she is livid because she suspects it somehow ties back to the etch.

My theory made things worse . . .

The check has her name and the bank's mailing address on it . . . so:

~ I bet that they put the check in with normal payroll (mailed in on envelope to the bank) and it arrived here at the local branch just after 4/13.

~ I expect that the etch (who the big fight was with) decided to purposely sit on the check here and use the story "I thought she would stop by and pick it up" with the real reason being pure spite and only to cause further delay in getting her the money due.

~ When the former branch president called the CFO asking about BOTH of their checks, I suspect that the CFO did some tracking and found out was sitting here under the etch's thumb.

~ The CFO knows that Mrs Web and the etch are not getting along (he is the one who came here that Mrs Web first talked to), so he probably had the etch send it back to the main office, made up the story of the lost expense report (to save further fighting) and then sent it back to Mrs Web at home (it was post marked from the main office).

I could be wrong, but why else would they lie about the "lost report" when the check was actually cut on 4/13.? Somebody sat on it for nearly three weeks. Either the main branch, or the local etch. I suspect it was the local etch.

I would still prefer to just deposit it, dust off our shoes and let it end. Mrs Web thinks they need to see the real kind of person the etch actually is so they will sooner realize what a mistake they made by betting all their chips on the etch.

At this point, just move on. We already know the etch and her wicked ways. If Mrs. Web continues to get sucked into the black hole of animosity she has toward the etch and the things the etch has done (does), then Mrs. Web will continue to be where the etch wants her -- the old cliche, misery loves company. "Knowing" what really happened is not going to amount to a hill of beans, except what Mrs. Web already knows.

It's hard to let things go when all you want to do is beech slap someone...

The etch will get hers all on her own. Might not happen right away, but eventually...

Agreed. Best to let it go and move on. Your theory is probably spot on, but at this point it doesn't matter. The bank will consider it case closed, and anything Mrs Web has to say from here in will just be looked upon as sour grapes.

Totally understand Mrs Web wanting to beech slap the other woman. I have one of those situations going in my life too... but taking the high road and letting it go.

Yes, this is true. I hope she can let it drop.

I think the worst part of it all is that Mrs Web thinks the etch believes she "won" and the etch is too stupid to realize that what she really won is no prize, and she is in way over her head.

Eventually, the bank higher ups will have to realize what an etch she really is. Mrs Web just wants it to happen sooner rather than later. It will happen though, eventually.

I agree with everyone else, it would be better to just drop it. It'll make her look bad, and it'll burn bridges.

Now, you must pardon me, I need to get back to my piņa colada... ;) (yes, I'm rubbing it in, sorry.)
