RE: The (somewhat) Daily Check Ins of 2013

Oh yeah, and the worst thing about the server that went down . . . my biggest design customer has a site on that server for the Mankato MN marathon. The marathon was Sunday morning. The site was offline all day. The marathon people, and the people he works with are NOT happy. I'll just have to wait and see what fallout there is from that yet.

Wow, Web, what a disaster! Although it is nice knowing that when something like that happens (it seems like a when, not if, scenario), there's someone who's personally working day and night to fix it, and who actually cares.

Good day, all. I'm luxuriating in the comfort (HAHAHAHA) of my half-a-cubicle trying to read some IETF standards docs that apply to the training class I get to spend 3 days in next month while about 15 feet away a couple guys are getting busy building the new security gate that will impede my path to the closest restroom. It is a GREAT day here.

(nail gun) 4.2. Trunk Group Namespace: Global or Local (or nail gun)?

REQ 2: Inter-domain trunk group (nail gun) name collisions must be prevented (drilled).

Under normal operations, (nail guns) trunk groups are pertinent only within an
administrative domain (i.e., local scope) (sliding scaffold). However, given that
inadvertent cross-domain trunk group (nail gun) name collisions may occur, it is
desirable to (drill) prevent them. The judicious use of (nail gun and drill) namespaces is a
solution to this problem (nail gun). Thus, it seems appropriate to (adjust the sliding scaffold) scope the
trunk group through a (nail gun) namespace.

ALOL, Mema! I'm sorry for laughing at your pain, but You put it in a humorous context. You should make sure they go home with one less nail gun though; one of those could prove to be useful later.

I did ask if I could borrow one for a while... dude just looked at me crazy. He probably thought I was going to nail him to something. I'd actually be more down with "borrowing" one of the 70-inch flat screen TVs that were brought in to be installed in the newly expanded conference room on the other side of the elevator lobby (a.k.a. 'The DMZ').

It seems like both companies are dumping a ridiculous lot of money into this one building just to make the employees of the other company jealous. Rumor has it that the galley/break room on our side of the building is getting an upgrade... new flooring, new vending machines, and a fancy-schmancy, hi-tech coffee station that will emit all sorts of Starbucks quality coffees, lattes, and even hot cocoa. I'd be happy if they would just get a second frigging microwave. Ah well...

Mz... I'm glad you got a giggle out of that. It is exactly how it was sounding in my head while I was trying to read that section. I gave up on reading that for today. Besides, hadda go to a team meeting with the HR sponsored grief SPECIALIST. (She noted several times up front that she is a SPECIALIST, not a grief councelor! She is more highly trained!!)

Dude, when you're grieving, what's the difference?  And do either type even help?

Honestly, I didn't feel it was a benefit to me. At this point in life, most of us have experienced the loss of someone or something we truly care about. Most of us have sorted out how we deal with grief, and how to show basic compassion toward someone who is hurting.

She basically gave a pitch for the company provided Employee Assistance Program, which is a wonderful benefit. She didn't exactly go over the phases of the grief cycle as most of us know all about that too. Really, the only suggestions she gave out of the deal was when someone commented that they feel like they don't know what to say to someone who is obviously hurting, she said that she typically goes with either, "You are in my thoughts." , followed by a silent pause or "I just don't know what to say." as an acknowledgement of the situation without adding any possible negativity.

I spent most of the time in there trying to remember the name of this lady I used to work with who the grief specialist reminded me off. A real odd duck, that one... and she had an unusual name. I want to say it was Copernica or something like that. She was the doctor going-ist to Seventh Day Adventist you could ever meet. Anyhow, this woman really reminded me of my former co-worker in both the way that she looked and spoke. Seemed like they could be sisters.

It's been a busy week. This is the first night that I don't have somewhere to be. So for once, I'm kind of glad it's Thursday.

I'm now in NANONANONANONANO mode. I'm planning my novel for NaNoWriMo, plus planning the local events. The kick off party is next Wednesday and I still need to make up goody bags. I also have some costume assembly to do for a Halloween party next weekend. Plus formatting my last book. Man, I wish I had 8 extra hours a day to work on this stuff.

Afternoon all. I'm just passing through. I spent some of yesterday afternoon and today sorting all kinds of paperwork that accumulated while I was out. Some was passed along to the boss. Some was intentionally left for me. Other stuff has come and gone. My temp's last day is tomorrow. At least I don't think that has changed. I am getting a lot of emails dumped on me because the boss is going through stuff that was sent to him that hasn't been done and I can handle. Yeah, fun. Oh well, I am glad that tomorrow is Friday.

Good day, all. I will second the TGIFF. Woke up this morning to see frost all around outside... even when I know it is coming I still don't like it. None the less, I got up and made me eventually get moving. Did my AM workout, and drug my booty to work. Appears to be a quiet day here, so I'm sure time will crawl along. My two major activities of the day seem to be cleaning out my e-mail and entering my payroll data for the week. Both of those accomplished, it will be back to making me read technical documents for the most part. One of the ladies did bring in a putting green, so I'm guessing the boss will have us trying our hand at that before too long.

Ah well... it is still Friday and it is actually payday too... very glad of that. Hope everyone has a great day.

Good day, all. Yep, it is the Monday again. And of course they didn't really bother to work on the construction efforts here in the office over the weekend, so the guy with the drill is hard at it this morning.

It was a busy weekend of trying to get stuff done around the house and get ready for the various Halloween activities. I'm going to a costume party after the trick-or-treaters are done. This just came up last week, so I had to go hunting for costumes and such. Was trying to decide between the devil, Marie Antoinette, or a pirate wench. Seems that pirate wench won out as it comes with the clear advantage of my being able to a) reuse a costume from years ago, b) wear my favorite pair of over the knee black boots, and c) in the words of the BFF (US Navy retired), "Sailors love wenches!". I'd suppose I can't argue his logic.

How 'bout them Chiefs? 8-0!! Who'da thunk it?

Hope everybody has a great day. Keep calm and drill on...

"Happy" Monday all.

The Halloween party we're going to next weekend is a Day of the Dead party, so I'm working on appropriate costumes for us. I'm basically wearing my belly dance ensemble, but since my skirt is green, putting white and red with it, black and red roses in my hair, and painting my face. Brian didn't want to paint his face, so I got a blank white mask from the craft store and used a sharpie to draw it on. I also got him a black hoodie and decided to paint it to look like a skeleton. I figured it would take a couple hours. I was oh-so-wrong. I've got 9 hours in on it so far, and that's only for the front and back, I still need to paint the sleeves.

Tonight is belly dance class and martinis, Wednesday is the NaNoWriMo kick off party, Thursday is Halloween and I hope to get at least a couple trick or treaters, Friday is November 1st which means I need to start writing, and Saturday is the party. So I've got little time to paint the sweatshirt. I think I'll come home early from martinis tonight and get some more painting done.

I'm not sure yet on a makeup scheme. I did get me some fake eyelashes, black lipstick, and a couple of temporary tattoos. I couldn't find the wig I wore last time I used this costume, so I bought a new one... black curley hair with a streak of white in the middle of the forehead.

Good day, all. The promised rain has made it to the KC area. It is gray and gloomy looking outside, but fortunately the rain let up for my drive into work. Not a lot going on around here today as we have also entered that slow time of year where nothing really happens. Probably a good thing. I could totally lay down and take a nap right now.

Ah well... hope everybody has a great day.

Happy Halloween! I've yet to see anyone else dressed up today, but I've got a black widow thing going on: spider web poncho, spider web glasses, spiders in my hair, web and skull necklace, and earrings with a web, spider, and tombstone (one side says RIP I.M. Knotwell, and the other says RIP Anita Newbody).

Happy Halloween! I think thus far I'm the only one stepping out of the norm at the office too. Nothing too crazy, just the devil horns. Later this evening at the costume party I will actually be sporting a pirate wench getup. In preparation for that I did start out this morning with applying my temporary tattoos. If you've seen my current FB status, the Star of Borneo is one of them. I'll get some pictures later when I'm all done up.

Morning all. It is Thursday. I don't hink I feel too good. Headache and a little bit of a nauseous tummy. Hopefully it will pass. I honestly think the yucky weather has an effect on me. It has to pass quickly. I am sneaking out of the office to go to an interview at noon. I hope it is a treat and I don't get a trick. Have I mentioned lately how much I dislike pantyhose?

Anywho, candy on.

I saw that Mema and thought, "I didn't know she had that tattoo."  Now it makes sense!

Yeah, I don't think I would ever get a tattoo on my chest for reals. I have plans to get another tattoo, but it will probably be on an ankle.

Thanks guys. It was for a different kind of accounting job. I gues it went okay. THey kept ask about processes. What would you do, how would you do... Lately I have felt stupid. Sometimes words come out mixed up or I forget something easy or simple. So trying to wrap my head around building a process wasn't easy. They probably won't want me. I gues that will be okay.

It's Friday!

Glad the interview went ok, Fuzzy. Hopefully it works out and you end up with a much better job!

I just got done spraying some insecticide around the outside of the shop to slow down the "box elder" bugs. They are pretty thick this year. I'll spray at home later this afternoon.

Die bugs, DIE!

Man, I'm glad I'm not a bug at Web's house.

Fuzzy, I've been getting that word and forgetting thing a lot recently too. But for me, I'm sure NaNoWriMo has a lot to do with it. I think I've overwhelmed my brain. But in your case, it might be worth mentioning to your doctor.

I have been threatening for weeks to spray around my house too. Should be the last time until spring. I keep putting it on my list of thingds to do, but I keep not doing it.

Good day, all. Happy Monday. I spent a good part of my weekend raking leaves and mowing the grass. Hadn't gotten around to thinking about bugs... suppose I should try to check out that situation befiore long. Unfortunately, it is supposed to rain for the next couple of days so spraying outside is out for now. Ah well... it is fall, so uncooperative weather is to be expected.

On the up side, I think I only have about 26 workdays left this year. That is kinda nice.

Hope everybody has a great day.

It is Monday. I am annoyed. I was annoyed with work when I left here on Friday. Unfortunately, it has started all over this morning. I simply don't want to do this anymore. This year has been a personal and work disaster. I would prefer never to have to do it again.

Yes, I am not in a good place right now.

It has been a rough year for you. I'm sorry for that. Happily it is nearly over. Perhaps once it is finally in the rear view mirror, 2014 will be a better deal. That is my wish for each of us anyway.
