New Berlin - Thanks to the efforts of a New Berlin alderman, kids in who ride bikes in the city won't have to worry about being ticketed if don't have both hands on the handlebars.

The Common Council was just about to pass an ordinance that would have banned bicyclists from riding hands free when Ald. John Hopkins objected to the rule, saying: "It's time we let kids be kids."

After some debate, the rest of the council agreed and removed that provision from a long list of new rules for bicyclists.
