Pop singer Britney Spears has shaved off all the hair on her head, only a day after US media reported that she had checked into rehab. According to People magazine, a source confirmed that Spears had checked into Crossroads Centre in Antigua for treatment but left after just 24 hours at the facility. This report was not confirmed by Spears' representatives.
She then visited Esther's Haircutting Studio in Los Angeles after the salon had closed and asked Esther Tognozzi to shave her head.
Tognozzi refused to help with the dramatic makeover, later telling 'Extra' that she was afraid she would be sued for ruining the singer's image.
She said that Spears then "grabbed the buzzer and started buzzing her own hair off. I just cleaned it up when she was done with it."
Tognozzi said that Spears seemed "a little bit teary-eyed" while shaving off her hair, saying that her mother might be upset with her new look.
When describing the singer's emotional state at the time of the head shave, Tognozzi said she was "just there in body and not really emotionally there".
Mother-of-two Spears also had two new designs tattooed onto her body on the same day. The tattoo artist, Emily Wynne Hughes, described the singer as "distraught and disturbed", adding that she was difficult to work with. "She was screaming and flipping out from the pain and wiggling her body all around," she said.
I was gonna post a picture of her getting out of thatcar with Paris....but deceided it wasn't too cool to put that on here....but she was bald there too!
In some odd way, I can't totally disagree with her actions. It's extreme, but what pop star isn't a bit eccentric? Don't you wonder why? Is she going through a Sinead O'Connor phase? Is she sick of being treated like an object instead of a person? Is she completely emotionally unbalanced like people seem to think? Or is it all in the interest of publicity? Interesting to ponder...

I think so too... When I get down I want to cut off my hair...I'm not so bad now but it used to be hard te resist..Sexy Simon, my hairdresser used to take it down to a number 2 for me..
When I was a student nurse I met "Joe" on the psychy ward...he used to shave his hair off when he was in crisis.
For me i think it was a case of partly wanting to rebel against conformity and partly wanted to look een uglier and punish myself...Perhaps that was the closest I got to self harm at that time
