BOSOM BUDDIES on DVD - Season One

Ok,

This is mostly intended for ANF, if he stops by.

What do you think of Bosom Buddies season one?

I was surprised to find it in the exact type of packaging as Family Ties, right down to the silver & gray DVD's.

I'm with you now, I like the packaging, it's nothing fancy, but it's durable and better than those cardboard fold-outs.

Furthermore, I bet it's relatively cheap to produce, and gives me hope that maybe they'll release the full run of the shows as a result.

Ok, I'm gonna go bring back the 80's for an hour or so

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Those bastages!

They replaced the theme song (Billy Joel's "My Life") with some horrid song called "Shake you loose" by Stephanie Mills!

WHY O WHY.  The Billy Joel song set the tone for the whole show.  This is NOT the same

Either him or his record label was demanding too high a price.

I know the family of Elvis was demanding so much to use "A Little Less Conversation" on the Las Vegas DVD sets (which is the original song from the show still on TV) that the producers said it would have increased EVERY SET SOLD by $10.00.

But ya know what, I'd pay it to have this stuff in it's ORIGINAL form.

However, I know most people wouldn't, so that's why they cave and replace it with some lame song they can get dirt cheap.

It really bugs me though.  I buy these really more as a collection, as a reminder of something I saw as classic television, and to have the theme song changed ruins that completely.

A song really does set the tone for the show, and these guys don't even try to replace it with another song that set's the same tone.

Very disappointing.

By the way,

This is probably the worst of them all for me.

When this show debuted in November of 1980 I was 12 years old. I WAS INSANE over it and loved the theme song.

Back then I had no idea who Billy Joel was, and I went on about a three year search trying to find this song. Everytime we'd go to the mall I'd go to the record store and be humming or singing this for the clerks, telling them what show it was from, hoping someone would know who it was so I could buy it.

I didn't find out until after the show had been cancelled.

Still, it has a special place in my memories and I really would have liked the original.
