Computer problems here

I had computer problems this week... I lost my IP address, and the computer geek from City Hall came in and fixed it.  Now since I've had this problem I can't stay connected to Live365, or my MySpace stream just keeps "buffering".... I'm really getting aggrevated, and I'm just working in silence.

Also the pages (all webpages) not just FFR take forever to load, and they keep "not responding".....

My first guess would be it's a problem with the internet connection. How do you lose an IP address?

I'm thinking she's on a router.

I know when I reboot my router my computers all scramble to get an IP address, and sometimes if the router is messed up it won't assign one.

I also know I've had problems where my router will wig out and will cause the types of problems it sounds like Darlene is having.

But if that's the case I would hape the tech guy would be on top of it

The computer guy is so busy doing all of the city's computers that I'm now back on the bottom of his list of things to fix.... my computer may get looked at again sometime in July....

Ok I feel really bad that Darlene can't tune in! cry

I'm no techie, but would it matter if she had a changing ip address or a set one? Probably not, but I just can't understand what the problem is unless they put a block on it.

Like I said, from personal experience, I'd be willing to bet it's her router, not her internet connection.

But here's the thing, for regular internet usage a skipping router doesn't really matter.  It really only affects streaming video and audio, maybe downloading something too, but more than likely they don't care about that.

I think her only hope is if she can get the IT guy to replace the router, but he's gonna wanna know why cry

I hope I'm wrong.  But I was already wrong once this year, so the odds are SERIOUSLY against it smile

trying the Windows Media Player now, we'll see, since the MySpace page works now, I'm thinking they fixed the Network problem...things seem faster.
