For those of you who are intersted in photography, ie: Web, I have attached this link that shows a tutorial on how to add a dash of color to a black and white photo. 

I absolutely love when a photo has this done to it......   I have attached the webpage so you can create one for yourself, and a sample picture to show what I mean:

I used to play around with that a lot when I had a nice camera.

I always liked the old SNL images they used before and after commercial breaks, it was like a black & white photo of the guest host with a little color added.

Whenever I see a photo like that the first thing I think of is SNL now.

I wish Adobe Photoshop weren't so crazy expensive, this would be a really cool tool to have for photos.

I don't have "Photoshop", I just have a cheap image editor but if anyone's interested, here's how I did this one.


1. I started with a full color photo.

2. Next I made a copy of the photo so I had two separate copies of the same photo.

3. On copy 1, I turned down all the color levels to make it black/white.

4. On copy 2, I carefully "extracted" just the collar from the rest of the image.

5. On copy 2, I used the color adjustment tools to "punch up" the color and contrast a bit to make the collar even more purple and "brighter" than it was on the original.

6. I copied the extracted colored collar from copy 2 and pasted it into the black and white copy 1 as a new layer.

7. In copy 1, I moved the layer containing the colored collar to where it lined up perfectly and covered up the black and white collar.

8. Exported that as a new image . . . done.

That is really cool! I have tinkered some on the program I have. But I always get frustrated because I don't understand everything. I usually end of quitting.

Just thought I'd let you guys know about this.  If any of you have a student in school, you can get Adobe Creative Suite 2.3 Premium for $399.00.  This includes Photoshop, Illustrator, GoLive, InDesign, and Dreamweaver 8.  You must be able to show that you have a student in the house, they accept a photocopy of student school I.D. as proof. Wow! That IS a great deal!

I was looking at Photoshop and Dreamweaver recently and combined I think they would have run me about $600 just for the two of them.

This is fun! 

I downloaded the free trial of Adobe Photoshop.

Here's a few I did, although I kind of rushed so they're not very good.

I'm gonna try to do a nice one of my dog for the avatar.

wow everyone has been so busy. I love so many of the photos here.

I love the dog w/ the santa suit Riggs.

I love that Ruby and Web are using the pics as their avatars now!!

And I absolutely Love the Dance Team that Ray did w/ the girls in the orange headbands etc....
