Happy Tuesday all!  Tuesday is almost finished for me...just gotta get through work but yay...Hump Day Wednesday coming up in a few short hours for me..well by the time you read this lol I'll probably have like an hour!!!!

Just gotta get through two work shifts then I'm flying to Cairns for the day on Thursday to take care of some business then it's 2 sweet days of freedom!!  Finally!!!

Anyway hope you all have a terrific day!

Morning all- where's my coffee?


Well my son passed his first test yesterday- a surprise drug test! Report cards come out today and he is failing at least 4 of his five classes

Mornin'.

Yesterday, the way I felt, I was wondering if I was getting a cold. Today there's no doubt. The boy was a grumpy pain in the butt this morning. He fought going to bed last night so this morning he fought getting up. So, between the way I feel and trying to get mr grumpy pants off to school, I'm not in the best mood right now.

I'm working on counter tops for the new sound booth at church. I'm hoping to get all the pieces cut out today. We've got another guy making some steel support brackets so when those are done, I can install the tops and glue the Formica down. Fun stuff.

good morning, everyone!  looks like rain all day in the tulsa metro, but nothing severe.  no play again for me today.  the fate of payroll is in my hands...

good to hear that the boy passed the suprise test, ruby.

Sound booth?  SOUND BOOTH?!?!

I want a sound booth

I was sitting in the studio Sunday during one of JD's shows thinking how that is the only thing missing, some kind of sound proofing material to get rid of that echo you hear on our mic when we talk.

Are you sound proofing your sound booth web?  Or is this just a place for someone to do the mixing and such?

Yes, its just a place to put all the equipment. It's in the back of the sanctuary, the floor is raised up 24" with 4' tall walls around that. Its all open above so we can hear well.

I'm not sure who the "genius" was who designed the old system, but basically a "closet" was built to hold the sound equipment. First of all, it is a small 3'x4' room. The new mixing board we got wouldn't even physically fit in the room because the mixer is wider than the room. So, for now, all the equipment is just sitting on a table in the back of the sanctuary. All the knobs are a big invite for little fingers. I took a few close up pictures of the board a couple weeks ago so if someone does get to it, we can see where everything was set before. 32 channels with about 12 knobs/channel is a lotta knobs to reset if need be.

The old equipment room had many problems. The cd player, tape deck and mixer all faced the back wall. So when running sound equipment, we had to turn around to start something or make an adjustment. We couldn't watch the people up front and turn something on at the same time. Even more of an issue, it was in a small room. We couldn't hear very well in there. To change something, we had to make an adjustment, step back out into the sanctuary to hear how it sounds out there, go back adjust more, step back out, etc. Just a poorly designed system. I suppose when it was built 25 years ago and there was just a couple microphones, it was ok. Things have changed since then. We have 12 channels full now and we need more, but we can't hook up any more until we get the new "snake" ran (its on order).

I'll probably take some pics (Its what I do) when the project is about done. Its going to be nice when completed.

I'm finally getting the the Tuesday thread! Today's been a busy day. Floyd's eyes were swollen, so I had to take him to the vet this morning. Then I had to stop by a few stores on the way home. And I have another interview this afternoon that I need my portfolio for. Yeah, the portfolio that I don't have together. So I've got that all printed out, and I've realized how many logos I have in it. So then I searched through my work for some non-logo stuff, but most of the stuff is no longer printable, mostly because of the resolution. I still have copies of stuff in a lower resolution on my website, but I lost a lot of stuff a couple years ago from a computer crash. Oh well, I'll have to work with what I have and see how it goes.
