As of now, our second station, Freeze-Frame Radio: Unsigned has gone live.
This station is only broadcast via Windows Media. It is all unsigned artists and therefore free from royalties.
This is not in response to the current situation with the RIAA, however it may be a glimpse of our future.
As many of you know I quit my job in December and began work on an internet business. After a few delays I am now getting ready to start pushing this new project. It involves the following...
(an all-independent radio station promoting the artists being sold on the Disc-Connection)
This will be a slow growth process, but I've never been MORE enthusiastic about helping young artists sell and promote their music while keeping a vastly larger chunk of their own profits (bypassing the labels who would normally take a greater than 50% cut).
RIGHT NOW there are only two artists represented on the new station, so this is NOT long-term listening material. But hopefully we'll grow steadily over the next year.
For the few of you (only two actually) that used to tune into FFR via the Windows Media stream, I'm sorry, you've lost your contact with us We could have gotten in trouble for using it anyway, and considering the fight we're in it would be a mistake to not honor every single rule in place.
For the MANY of you that used the stream on your MySpace page I understand if you decide to remove the player.
The numbers have shown that the MySpace listeners typically listened in for only 10 - 15 minutes each while they were checking out your pages. I still do appreciate the exposure, but if you want to go back to your favorite songs I COMPLETELY understand.
