NEW YORK -- The Mets got their first look at the best record in baseball on Friday night, and immediately defaced it. They overcame the Brewers in a home run-hitting contest, ending the Brewers' winning streak at six games and pushing their home record over .500.
Their 5-4 victory included home runs by David Wright, Carlos Delgado and Damion Easley. Geoff Jenkins, Prince Fielder and J.J. Hardy hit home runs for the Brewers. Easley's, hit in the eighth inning against reliever Carlos Villaneuva, proved to be the decisive run.
What are you rootin' for the Mets for anyway? You're a Floridian!
All we need to do is win one of three. Two of three will be great, but one of three is ok.
Ya gotta play .500 on the road and win 2 of 3 at home, then you're in the playoffs.
The Met's HAVE to win. They're too good of a club to lose a series at home. That would be bad baseball!
Having said that, WE WILL WIN the next two!
It sure will be interesting to watch this Central division the next seven days though. Everyone is playing good clubs in the east or west. And in day one the entire central division took a loss.
I have to admit my stomach is a little in a knot this weekend. The press we're getting is amazing, and if we go 2 - 5 or worse on this road trip I think it will really cost us momentum and our buzz in the sports world.
I've heard a lot of people say "they'll go back to losing, they're the Brewers". Everyone is waiting for our fall
