O.K.....

went to see Pirates last night, good movie. I had a great time, I feel that it needs to be seen more than once, because of all the inter deals that go on at once, I missed some, but most of them seem to get lost during the movie. I was disapointed in Chow Yun-fat's character wasn't developed properly, and wasn't utilyzed correctly. There were a few disapointing areas of the movie in general, but it was a pirates movie. Unfortunately some of the funniest parts of the movie for me was listening to the younger poeple discuss things in the movie.....

LOL!!!!

anyways, as a stand alone movie, it wasn't. As a 3rd in a series movie..... it was lacking, without the other 2 movies, this would be a bomb, And because of the other 2 movies, they make this one the least favorite. There seemed to be too much that still needed to go into this 3 hour tale........ I can only imagine the 4-5 hour directors cut...

LOL!!!!

over all....

good movie, not as great as it could have been.

I'm a huge Pirates fan, and therefor very biased, but I loved the third movie! But it is very different than the last two. It's got a lot more story (and a great story at that) but is a lot less whimsical. I've seen the other two movies countless times, so I really am not a good judge for whether or not someone could see it without seeing the others. But I don't think it was meant to be a standalone movie. The story took a lot of interesting twists and turns, some that as a writer I wouldn't have made, but they work. I think the focus switches and someone else is really more of a main character than Jack. And when it comes to movies, I'm usually not one to cry, but this movie made me cry.

As for a favorite movie of the three, I don't think I have one. The first movie was a lot more lighthearted, while 2 and especially 3 are a lot more serious, so it really depends on what I'm in the mood for. I don't think I'd say 2 was my favorite, because it doesn't feel complete; it was obviously written with the assumption the story would be completed in 3.
