This article doesn't talk much about the technology aspect of it.

I didn't know about the buying music from Verizon part (though I should have expected it).

I was more impressed that the phone can "listen" to a part of a song and tell you who sings it, the title, and what album it's from.

Even if you don't buy the music from Verizon, it would be a neat feature to have.

Sometimes I'll hear a song somewhere and wonder who it is, I could flip out my cell phone and it would tell me.
