I've got the VIP stream up at the moment. There wasn't even a message when I turned it on. JR, you should've switched the VIP stream over to a message too.
I brought John Mayer "Room for Squares," Beatles "Abbey Road," David Bowie "Heathen," and Led Zeppelin to listen to today just in case. I'm debating tuning out in protest.
I forgot my CD's out in the car, I'll bring them in on my break. So for right now, I'm checking out artist's on MySpace...anything Acoustic or Indie is what I'm going for right now.
wow... this really puts a kink in my routine... i need routine or i malfunction... jk
i guess i'll have to see what i have to blow the dust off of. i know i have some joss stone and a citizen cope. oh yeah, wilson pickett.... i think i'll take a listen the ultimo's suggestion.

Stickman Radio. They have their own server, so aren't a part of Live365. It's also all request, and they have thousands of songs to choose from. All hard rock & HM, though. Stickman-radio.com

I'm going to give it a try Ultimo, clicking on songs over and over on MySpace Artists is hectic!
Ok cool.
Alrighty Ultimo, I am listening to Bob Harris (Saturday) and the Beatles are playing.. "Back in the U.S.S.R.!!" Well okay, this is good!
Thats the listen again stuff, which is cool, but if you click listen live at the top of the window you get they live output, Steve Wright is on he is quite good!
I'm listening to LS's station....not bad. Thanks LS.
Cool! Sign up and request away. I hear the Stryper is delicious this time of year
Everything they have is the full albums, so there should be nothing you can't find.

THIS is why we didn't go totally silent today.
A day of silence only really works if EVERYONE does it. All today has accomplished is to send our regular listeners in search of new stations, and some of them may never return.
Every webcaster is aware of the situation and threatened with these insane costs, but a few are choosing to use this as an opportunity to increase their listenership. If internet radio is shut down I'll take a little comfort in knowing those that saw this as an opportunity for themselves will be going down with the rest of the ship.
I considered silencing the VIP stream as well, but for one I didn't want to send even the VIPS looking for other outlets and two, since they're actually paying to be able to tune in it seemed wrong to cheat em' out of a day.

The guy who runs the station is away, and unable to shut down his system remotely. If the day of silence happened during another week, he would've done it also.

Well, that's understandable, but trust me, there's a lot of stations on the air today that are just trying to take advantage of the situation.
When we were talking about this on Live365 I wasn't for it at all. I think we'd have been much better served to all agree to spend a lot of time on air talking about the issues or something.
Anytime you turn away a listener there's a chance of never getting them back. We learned that the hard way when we had our huge crash that knocked us off the air for over a week about two years ago. We lost about 2/3'rds of our audience and still haven't gotten most of them back.
I just listened to a computer security podcast that talked about a cool add on for both Firefox and IE. You can right click on a link and have this scanner scan the site for trojans and bad stuff before you look at the page with the browser.
It will also take a page of search results and look at each one then put a status symbol beside each link so you can see if it is a safe page or not.
They are a lot like FFR- 80s, 90s and today- a lot of what I offer to JR comes from here.
I have been MIA lately and missing so much I think I have a lot of catching up to do! Just trying to get my life better on track. Staying away from the internet and spending time outside and with E. I miss you all though!
Hello all! We are back up now! I have been listening to music that I have stored on my computer. I have about 9 hrs worth of Buffy Music- lol. I had no idea until I went searching.

Nice to see you again! Even if it's just for a bit.
I am not planning on staying gone, this week and last have been hectic and my FFR time is suffering. I have some great pix to post and have been praying for you all!
