She doesn't look sixty though. She doesn't even have any grey hair.
Erica and I are taking her on a two night casino trip, maybe to Michigan, later this summer. But for today we're just treating her to a nice lunch.
Maybe I'll have them bring out a cupcake with a candle and have everyone sing happy birthday! Nuthin' like a little public embarassment on your birthday right?
Its going to be anohter long Sunday. I've got praise team practice first thing this morning, then church, then we're going to see mom-in-law again this afternoon. I was hoping I could talk Mrs Web into driving today, but the car is making some strange noises so we'll probably take the van . . . she won't drive the van.
Oh, I just remembered that our pastor is on vacation, so we have a sub preaching. The sub is our former interim pastor. I really like him and it will be great to see him again. He is a neat guy. One thing that impressed me about him is that he never let anyone walk all over him, but yet always stood his ground in a very gentle way. Its hard to describe, but was neat to see.

Hope your mom has a very nice birthday!!
Which casino are you planning to visit here in MI? If you don't have any definite plans yet you might want to consider Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant. It's our biggest and best casino and resort.
But if you want a little more than just the casino atmosphere, then I'd go with the Kewadin in St. Ignace. The casino itself doesn't look like much from the outside, in fact, you probably wouldn't recognize it as being a casino. But the location is great....cross the Mackinac Bridge and go into Mackinaw City which has lots to do and see. If you extended your trip to 3 days, you could also catch one of the ferries and go visit Mackinac Island....very beautiful in the summer....a lot of people but no cars allowed. There is also Castle Rock to climb (there is a stairway all the way up) on the St. Ignace side of the bridge......has a spectacular view of the Bridge and Lakes MI & Huron. This is definitely the casino to visit if you're interested in doing a little sight-seeing along with gambling.
Gosh JR, if you had a little more time, I'd personally give you a tour of all the wonderful places there are to visit here in Michigan!!!
Hey Ghost, thanks for the heads up on all those places. I'll look more deeply into it the next few weeks.
My initial plan was just to maybe go to this place on our side of Lake Michigan that they've been advertising a lot lately, the Island Hotel & Resort. But taking a trip accross the lake might be fun!
