help

I posted our old house on craigslist as a rally rental and have a few replies, its obviosly not furnished right now since we moved out.

What things would you think I would need to supply to make it comfortable but not go overboard??

It still has appliances right?

If so, I would think a TV, maybe some cots.  pots/pans, etc.

I'm sure you're at a bit of a disadvantage having it not furnished, but when everything else fills up you'll be looking better to some people smile.gif

Depends what their reason is.

If they're relocating and need time to find a permanent residence and maybe a job, not such a bad thing.

If they're looking to set up a meth lab and figure you'll be an easy place to rent with relatively few questions asked, not such a good thing. no.gif

This month? Whynot? So long as it's a short rental, more $$$ for you! clap.gif

I'd be leary of anyone asking for multiple months for a "vacation rental." Too much hassle with a formal rental agreement when you go that long, and a higher risk of that person wanting to sublet. Usualy if it is for vacation purposes, that means an endless stream of family and friends in and out...and more risk of property damages.

You can end up with squatters who know how to use rental laws to their advantage - and anything over a month leaves you subject to that. It sucks. Did you ever come up with a sign? I'd still be happy to post something here. smile

I kinda have a bad feeling about this whole rental thing, Ally. Hopefully you can carefully screen the renters.

My wife cleaned motel rooms for about a year because she was between jobs and her cousin was in a bad spot and needed help immediately. The majority of people are ok, but there was something almost every day.

Whenever a fellow maid would say "Ewwwwe", the standard reply was "What color is it?". During Sturgis week, a lot of the bikers would get up in the morning and decide to wipe the dew off their bikes with the white bath towels ruining them with grease stains. There were daily issues with DNA being left on bedsheets . . . or most anywhere. It was common for someone to rent a room during a big event at the fairgrounds, then all day long, many other people would come and go taking showers. One day, she even had the privelage of finding the guy who committed suicide by hanging himself from the coat rack.

Just be prepared for the worst.

They were phishing for info, it was almost like one of those zimbabwe e-mails people are always getting.
