Tonight it's my American League team, VS. your National League Team! The American League has to win, for home field advantage at Fenway for the World Series against the Brewers!
DETROIT -- After being held out of Sunday's lineup because of what Red Sox manager Terry Francona called "intestinal turmoil," Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez is still heading to San Francisco to partcipate in the 78th annual All-Star Game. During the eighth inning of the Red Sox's 6-5 loss to the Tigers, Ramirez struck out pinch-hitting for Jeff Bailey, who had recorded his first big-league hit with a solo homer in the previous inning.
Following the game, Ramirez boarded principal owner John W. Henry's private plane, along with David Ortiz, Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett, Jonathan Papelbon and Hideki Okajima, on a flight to the West Coast.
Francona said Ramirez was also sick Saturday night and the bug has been running through the Boston clubhouse recently.
