Girl Toys vs Boy Toys

I was just thinking about this when I was shopping with little A today, she wanted a firetruck with legos in it. Over the weekend she wanted a tractor and a dump truck. laughing.gif

I suppose they are gender-neutral, but my rocks and sticks were not only toys, they were my only friends.cry

But look on the bright side JD, they could have just cut holes in your brother's pockets and told you you had to share! biggrin.gif

no.gif I actually had typed out I was too poor for toys I played with myself but I decided that I would take the higher ground and not taunt poor JD.

I believe the proper term for that is "twig and berries" at that age. rofl.gif

JD sounds a little like the baby boy who lived next door to me when I was a kid. On hot summer days, his mom would let him run around in his diaper only - he would cry from being too hot otherwise. There was one small problem...several times a day he would run full speed right up to the edge of the busy street. He'd then grab both sticky tabs on his diaper and pull them free, giggling as he unclothed himself like a Chippendales dancer...simply rip his drawers  free of his body and stand their grinning in all his glory!

I had an older brother and a younger brother, and 2 very close cousins, both boys. I remember playing w/ my cousins and brothers, playing football, wiffle ball, i loved playing w/ their atari, pinball and the cb radio. LOL

I also had a few girl friends who'd come over and we'd play w/ barbies, or toy horses.

I liked Lincoln Logs, and board games. So picked i liked both. smile.gif

I had a lot of girl toys but that was mainly because no one would buy me boy toys! The closest I got was getting my He-Man action figures. I only had one Transformer! I loved my Barbie and Jem dolls but would just as easily go play cops and robbers with the boys. smile

Since I grew up with two younger brothers, my parents used to buy me both girl toys and boy toys.  I had blocks, Lincoln Logs, army guys, cap guns, and race track sets.......the slot car kind and also the kind for Hot Wheels.  I had my own baseball glove, bats, football, basketball, and hockey sticks too.

I also played with tea sets, stuffed animals, and Barbie dolls.  I never had a Ken doll so I used to borrow my brother's G.I. Joe........I always thought Barbie looked better in her cars with him anyway.  Haha.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, since it's one of my favorite commercials.  I think it was for Nissan, where GI Joe hops into the car and picks Barbie up at her mansion while Ken is calling out after her from the rooftop, and the whole thing is set to Van Halen's version of "You Really Got Me."

I had very few toys groing up,

The best times were playing Robinhood, or roadwarrior down by the creek (in CA, where the creeks are clean) when we shot each other we would "die" falling off one cliff or another into the creek about 10 -15 feet below...

LOL!!!
