For the Love of AL...Weird AL

This guy has stuck around for over 20 years, making people laugh and always staying fresh. He just won his second Grammy for his Poodle Hat Album....And his concerts...PHENOMENAL(yeah...I can't spell!!!)

Anyone elso out there like the guy, or once again, am I alone in this?

I never would have guessed he'd of lasted as long as he has.  But the guy is very clever in his lyric writing.

Most of my favorite Wierd Al songs are the ones that AREN'T parodies.

I think my all-time favorite is "One More Minute", I forget what album that was off of, but i know it was an early one.

It's actually off of Dare to Be Stupid.

I agree, his better stuff is his original stuff... I love Trigger Happy, X-mas at Ground Zero, The Night Santa Went Crazy, Albuquerque, and most recently Hardware Store (the list in the middle is the ONLY part of a Weird Al song I have not yet been able to commit to memory...amazing piece of writing)

Bob is also great (off of Poodle Hat)...A Bob Dylan Style song made of nothing but Palendromes...sweet

Hey Jeremy,

You gotta have a Weird Al day...Play the most popular parodies, back to back with the original songs...and intersperse the occasional W.A.Y. Original in there. sure it's have to be done in the overnight hours...but it'd be soooo fun

I would not be opposed to that.  I used to play Wierd Al songs right after the original version on the T10 a lot in the past.

Like you said, it would have to be later in the evening, or perhaps over the weekend.

Or a theme day.  Maybe April Fools Day can incorporate a bunch of Wierd Al (along with some other stuff).

It'll be like a tradition, on April Fools Day ol' Wierd Al takes over the airwaves of Freeze-Frame, just like he did in UHF!  We could even get a bunch of soundbites from the movie.

I remember my mother was scheduled to go in for surgery the folowing week, and we were all watching MTV one night before hand when Wierd AL's Like A Surgeon came on.

My mom was already freaked out about having surgery, but wierd al's video really made her crazy.

If I remember right I think he talked about stuff being left inside of you after surgery or something.  Itw as kind of funny.

Its a good thing that was before ER or any of the other medical shows or we never would have got my mom into surgery

Hey Mo,

I meant to tell you, I'm sorry I didn't get to your request for Hardware Store yesterday.  I had just left about 2 minutes before it came in.

I'll try to get that song and a few others from Al on the AR system.  I think I have a few on there right now, but only his hits.  I'll try to rotate a few originals every month so you got something to request

That would totally rock....But you know...I've heard alot of Al on the Boards lately...I think there is another Al Fan out there...( I personally Don't like "want a new Duck" , but it seems to be getting alot of play)

I think you should take that sandwich idea, and do it for Al....Al song, real song,Al song Real song....(like "Want a New Duck", then HLN's "Want A NEw Drug", Then Ricky, then "Mickey"...etc....)cmon...you could do it late at night

You could then make this a special segment...like Cover Sandwiches, where you play an original "it's my life" by TalkTalk, then The Gwen Stefanni Version, Then do "I saw Her standing There" followed by tiffany's version....find a whole bunch of covers...

Another night One Hit wonder-bread sandwiches, where you play a little known"B-side" song, & then play the big hit, and get the " Oh my gosh, That's who did that song?!?!?!?!?"

It could work....oK idea rant over....
