Police in Los Angeles discovered 14 kilograms of cocaine and some 20 kilos of marijuana in a raid on a kindergarten in the city, the Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday.

They also found a stash of firearms and $US300,000 ($A342,720) in cash stored in shoeboxes.

"In the same place as cellophane-wrapped cocaine and marijuana and a loaded assault rifle and three handguns, we found children's toys," spokesman Paul Vernon said.

Maria Castellon, 47, the owner of the building was arrested and is being held in lieu of $US2.03 million ($A2.32 million) bail.
Police estimated that the cocaine was worth at least $US252,000 ($A287,885) on the street, while the marijuana is valued at about $US20,000 ($A22,850).
