Well folks, it looks like due to a few issues that have arisen we'll be on hiatus for awhile. I'd prefer not to get into it all, because it's kind of depressing for me, but I think in the long run this might be a good thing.
As most of you know I quit my job last December to get a business going, and the last 10 months have not gone as well as I had hoped. I think in part that's because I spend too much time on my hobbies and not enough time working my a** off like the first time I started a business and turned it into a success.
I think it's time to focus on what I need to get my personal life where I want it to be and that means a temporary shutdown of FFR.
Of course the forum continues, and I hope you'll all bookmark it and visit it as often as ever. As a cost-cutting move I'll probably be shutting down the FFR website for awhile (plus there would be no point in maintaining it), so accessing the forum via the site wouldn't be possible. When the time comes to get back on-air I'd like to be able to have you all back as listeners! I'll certainly be here still, but hopefully a little less than normal because I really do want to get my business up and running again.
I'm sorry for the short notice, but I do hope we'll be broadcasting again someday in the near future, so don't give up hope.
What can we do to help? Maybe turn FFR into more of a voluntary listener-owned station? I know the biggest problem with that would be that you have the broadcast computer, so you'd still have to be very involved. But you don't have to be in it alone. How can we help?
But this is about more than just finances. I actually think the studio will be turned into an office again so I can devote my full attention to the business. I've been doing it half-azzed and I need to get focused again.
Sometimes life throws you a curve for a reason, I'm taking the current situation as an opportunity to refocus on building my business and getting back into shape.
I just hope the community here in the forum can stick together without the music. We've got such a great group of people in here, I'd like to think we're all brought together by more than just the music.
Of course for selfish reasons, I'm sad to read this, but on the other side, I want nothing but the best for you and if shutting down FFR is part of that, I understand.
Being a DJ was a childhood dream. Most of you know I don't really DJ much anymore.
Someday, hopefully soon, when my life is more settled, I'll start it back up as the hobby it was meant to be. When I do, JD will be back as a Sunday night DJ and I'll be sure to let all of you know we're back on the air. Hopefully that won't be hard because we'll all be right here
I for one will still be very happy to be part of the forum....to be perfectly honest I tend not to have the music on that much cos there's usually enough noise going on here with mark and the kids.
You have to do what's right for you JR and good luck with it. x
Sorry to hear the station will shut down for awhwile Riggs - I'll miss it! However, I do believe that your determination will help you find the success you seek with your business endeavors. I'm happy to see you feel a sense of purpose and direction, and I'll be chanting for you. NMRK!

Its been a good run! I think Jazz 101 would be turning 4 yrs old right about now. & as Riggs say- the station comes back, so will my shows. It was a childhood dream of mine as well (heck adult dream for that matter too...) and I cannot thank Riggs enough for the opportunity and for sharing this dream with me.
