Some Days I Love My Job

There's been a lot of restructuring and change at Harley lately, and it's had a lot of people uneasy and a lot of gossip has been flying around. Our new Chief Marketing Officer held an event for those of us now reporting to him just to straighten out the rumors, bring us togther as a new team (of about 180 people) and have some fun. So, this afernoon we had Famous Dave's BBQ and hung out in the parking lot at Harley. How cool! We cranked some music  - good stuff, of course! And we rebuilt a replica of the original shed in which Harley-Davidson was founded. Here's some pics...

Bill Davidson, the great grandson of the founder, came to join us and thanked us for rebuilding it. He said his great grandfather regretted it had ever been torn down, which happened in the 50's. Bill cried when he saw it rebuilt again.

As I came back inside, I thought about how powerful it is to see the essence of Harley right in front of me everyday...so I snapped a few more photos of the things I sometimes forget to stop and look at...

Yep, today I love my job. It's not always fun or inspiring, but it's the best I ever had. I really like the fact they appreciate us enough to take a couple hours of our afternoon to have fun together and rebuild the spirit in our workgroup. smile

I was told it will only be up at Harley for a couple days, then it will be moved to the Museum site. You should stop by and check it out! It's open to the public.

Thanks Web! I thought so too. I don't know when the lamp was added. I do know they examined all the archived photos to construct the replica as closely as possible to the original shed, including examining the nail patterns and knots in the boards. It's funny to think that's where it all began.
