Monday, Monday!

Hey, welcome to another wonderful week of work (or whatever you have to do during weekdays)
I slept in, body decides to get some rest from time to time.
Octopus Project was pretty wild. (show last night if you missed my entry)
All the band members play each others instruments, eventually, I think.
It was a "wall of sound" Sonic Youth like in a way.
Well, Hi Ho Hi Ho... you know the rest. I'm looking forward to the witching hour when the phoenix rises!

It's a chilly morning here. Only 30 degrees, and still dark when my alarm went off. Makes it hard to get out of bed.

It doesn't look like my day is going to be too bad here, but I'm not holding my breath. I've probably just jinxed myself.

Morning everybody!  I have a little time to kill this morning while waiting for the mail to get here, about another 20 minutes.  My daughter's high school band won 2nd place at the State Championship competition over the weekend!!  They're so excited about this win......her school hasn't won a major competition for the past 10 years so they are all very proud of this accomplishment. smile

It's chilly here with morning, and supposed to get windy later this afternoon.  Maybe the leaves in my front yard will blow away so I won't have to rake 'em. biggrin

Does anyone know when Daylight Savings Time ends??  I was all set to change the clocks over the weekend then remembered they changed the date, but I can't remember what day we're supposed to change them.  hmm

Hope you all have a good day!!!!  smile

Thanks G-gal!  The only thing I don't like is when it's dark by 5:30 in the evening.....makes me feel like I should be in bed sleeping by 7:00, haha.

I'll appreciate the little extra light in the morning for a while. I have a hard time getting up when it's still dark.

Happy Monday!

In 15 minutes, I've got an appointment with Lawyer #2 to make sure we can fire lawyer #1 without any strings to #1. Then, we're going to set up an appointment with #1 to give her one more chance to be fair with us before we send her packin'.

After some closer inspection and number crunching, lawyer #1 is trying to charge us (the estate) $13,000 MORE than what lawyer #2 will do the SAME WORK for. no.gif

We had that daylight savings time discussion at church Sunday morning. I thought they added two weeks to the end of DST, but apparently it was only one.

Rock on, my friends . . . I gotta go swim with the sharks.

I usually have a hard time with this whole loss of daylight thing... this year probably won't be any different. If I go running at 4:30pm the sun is right in my eyes. (the driver's also!) I'm prone to tripping on roots or pot holes. I also worry the drivers can't see me. I know from my own experience that people running along the roadside are barely silouettes.
Spring is even tougher. By late March I'm so ready for nicer weather. This Spring was awesome. The extra hour we got early in the season made a huge difference to me.

Good mornin'.

We're gonna get our LAST blast of summer this week. mid 60's and sunny. I think I can hear Squonk and JD sharpening their grilling utensils already!

Personally I'm looking forward to a relaxing week of just working on putting some mailers together and listing a few things on craigs list.

I love that craigs list, but I'm not so fond of the constant parade of people coming into the house to look at stuff. I guess if they buy the item they came for it's all worth it, but I've met some STRANGE folks the last two weeks smile.gif

Oh yeah, and "GO GET EM' WEB"! That's insane!

I still can't believe that lawyer woman nearly made several thousand from the life insurance policy! What a scam artist!

I will have the 60 Olds on the road tomorrow. It's getting a new fuel pump today and I need to give it a test run before I try to drive it to Waukegan IL this Friday.
Too bad we won't see a strong 70 degrees. Funny how 60 degrees is so balmy in Spring. I'll drive with the top down if I get weather like that in Spring!
Might switch grillin' to Tues. It's on the menu for Friday.
We take off for a two night camp trip on Saturday afternoon. We are staying in the trail shelters out in the North Kettle Moraine. Pit toilet, three sided shelter and a fire pit. The colors should be awesome. (wow, that's gay)

Lawyer #2 meeting went ok.

He said the only issue we have in getting away from her now is what she thinks her time to this point is worth. She could say that she's done 30% of the work so she gets 30% of the 3% gross assets. Hopefully she won't try to pull that.

We meet with lawyer #1 at 11:00 to discuss this.

She is named in the will as trustee of the trust. #2 said it would take a court action to have her removed from that and it would get personal . . . he said being a fellow lawyer in a small town he wouldn't be comfortable representing us in that fight. If we want him to take over the estate work now, he'd be happy to do that.

Her being trustee and the fee she has set to do that is not a big issue. The problem we have is this percentage of gross assets she feels entitled to right now.

More swimming in 20 minutes.

Survived another round.

Lawyer #1 was obviously ticked off that we would question her rates. In the end, she did offer to come down to 2% instead of 3% but she refused to go hourly. She fed us some lines about malpractice insurance rates on estates. I asked her "Don't you have your insurance rates built into your hourly charge, like every other business?" Her facial expressions really gave her away that she was lying to me when she said "no".

My wife is upset and struggling with the decision. I told her my vote would be to pull it away from her, but that its her family and that I'll stand by her final decision.

She's really torn, but she decided to stay with lawyer #1 and pay her fees. Her main reason is due to the fact that her mom worked with this lawyer for 20 years on this stuff and it was her intention to have it handled there. She still knows this lawyer is taking advantage of us, she knows its not fair, but for some reason she feels some kind of loyalty to this lady and just wants her to get it done and get it over with.

So be it. That issue is closed and we now are back to dealing the things that have to be done to move it along.
