I'm happy to report: It's Friday!

Ah, feels like the good ol' days.  Too bad none of us owners have the ability to go start the broadcast back when the connection drops.

I am actually ina pretty good mood today, and I haven't even had my coffee yet!

Happy Friday! Yeah I wish we could help with the lack of tunes too. Not a great way to start a Friday. I have to go shopping tonight to see if I can find something to wear for Saturday. I went to one store yesterday without any luck. I spoke with a few other people going and they aren't going to get real dressed up either so I think the pressure is off. If all else fails I'll just wear jeans like all the guys will.

oh, yeah!  doin' the happy dance!  this has been a very busy week, and although i don't feel like i accomplished my goals, i did help others meet theirs.  today is show-and -tell at the daycare, so my biggest fans swarmed me to show what they brought.  the girls took the usual -- dolls, purses, stuffed toys; and the boys took the usual --  cars and action figures.  what does my son take (?) -- a pencil weirdface.

smiles everyone!  smiles!

Is there something special about the pencil?

not a special pencil...  just your basic yellow no. 2; doesn't even have the eraser anymore...

G'mornin' all!

I'm goin' to a big ol' campfire tonight, and before that I'm goin' to a fish fry! WOO HOO!

Probably the last chance for a campfire this year. I saved a lot of the wood from the desks and bookshelves I broke down two weeks ago to contribute to the fire.

We've also got a straw man that was made for halloween. YOu know the kind, shirt, pants, nylon for a head, all filled with straw? Well, he's goin' into the fire too! I'll get to see what it feels like to be one of those middle east nut jobs that likes to burn people in effigy.

I think my straw man will represent the a-hole in the news who advertised for a babysitter on Craigs List and then killed her when she got there! If not, I'm sure I can pick a suitable alternative candidate!

Have a great Friday my friends!

Mornin all. Hope you have a good Friday and weekend.

I am feeling a little grumpy today. I worked really hard on a project that was dropped a while back now someone else is working on it. I guess I just feel like my work was for nothing. Oh well such is life. hmm.gif

Been there Ally, I can totally understand how you feel. In fact, that was one of the reasons I left my last job.

I've got two chances for a campfire. Saturday eve we'll be at Mauthe Lake in a tent. Sunday, we'll be in a shelter on the Ice Age Trail. (Brrrrrrrrrr)

Have a good time.biggrin.gif

Is it really Friday? I hope so.

I'm gradually getting things put back together after a server crash. Moving 100+ sites to a new server has meant lots of questions to answer. Nothing really major after the move, just lots of little stuff.

Thats about all I've been doing the last couple days. I've not been in hiding, just stressed and needing to get away from the computer for a few minutes when I can.

Mrs Web has a "One Box" party at the bank tonight. The boy and I may go see "The Bee Movie". Not sure yet.

What is "One Box" you ask?

It is a pheasant hunt. Teams of five hunters are given one box of shells to use and its a contest to see who gets the most birds with that one box of shells. Most years, a few "celebrities" come. Sometimes is is someone quite famous, but usually not.

Its kind of a sour spot with me. I think originally, it was a fun, local event, but now it is a huge social "who's who" kind of thing. It is tradition that someone or some group sponsor one team and have a party for that team on the night before the hunt. You really have to "be someone" to be able to participate. Its a very closed social system.

I can't just get four other friends together and form a team . . . its gotta all be "approved" through the "One Box" committee. If you don't qualify socially, you don't participate. The more money you are willing to donate to the organization, the better chance you have to being able to be on a team.

My biggest beef is that almost every year, as a business owner, I get approached to help sponsor a team. That means I would get to help buy all the food and drink for a very large group of people. Every time I'm asked to be a sponsor, I always if sponsoring a team means I get to hunt with that team. Of course the answer is "no" . . . and so is mine.

It really is more about social status in the community than it is about hunting. Thats fine with me, but just leave me out of it.

Sounds like most charity golf outings.

I wish it were something like that. Sadly nothing to quit. It just really makes you feel like you arent good enough to do the job.

I'm sorry to hear that AC, I know how that feels. That kind of stuff happens here all the time. I eventually leanred it wasn't anything personal - I wasn't the only person it happened to - it was just management being flighty and wishy-washy. They forget what work has already been accomplished. Ah well, on to bigger and better things, right?

Well, it was only one of the reasons I quit, and it was deeper than that. An outside contractor proposed an idea similar to something I had proposed, so they put the two together and gave the project to me. And then once I basically completed it, they decided to give it back to the contractor. At the same time, they took other projects away from me that I was already working on and gave them to someone else and wouldn't accept my input. So I was both the originator for one thing and the person the project was given to for another. Adding that on top of other things, and I realized it was time for me to go.

Sometimes you just have to vent to get it off your chest even though the person responsible is a dope and doesnt get it.
