So Glad It's Back...

Welcome back to the FFR "airwaves" JD! It is so great to hear your shows again. aww.gif I really missed those Sunday night shows...they gave me a diversion I needed to avoid stressing out about going back to another week of work. I am SO GLAD and I can't wait for Jazz 101!!! biggrin.gif

so I appreciate and understand what you mean. I love the idea of being that last ribbon on what people did on their weekend.smile.gif

Ditto what G-gal said!!  I really missed the Sunday night shows....Underground 80's and College Daze are my faves, though I'm really beginning to enjoy Jazz, which was a genre I didn't dabble in too much.  smile

clap.gif I'm glad you think so Riggs! But more than that...I was just thinking how I LOVE Loudcity so much more than Live365. A stellar choice! The sound is way better, the stream is more consistent, and I don't have to tell the system to "continue" all the time. It's a BETTER normal if you ask me. nod.gif

Yeah, I agree.

The new server is a bit pricier than Live365 was, but well worth it. We have so many options available, and so little crap to deal with.

Jack is currently enthralled with Nature about Yellowstone's wolves and coyotes right now, but I'm sure he'll be at his customary spot next to the speaker for Jazz 101.

That's great...I know you and I were lamenting about their absence on our Sunday nights for a couple weeks! giggle.gif So now that you're starting to dig jazz, are you developing any faves?

Ah jeez G-gal, pin me down for names and my brain suddenly went blank!  Um, I'm sure there will be some playing tonight that I like, so I'll get back to you on that, haha. smile

One song that JD really turned me onto was that train home song. What was the name of it, "Last Train Home" or something like that.

Well, it's not Jazz, but JD made me a fan of Bauhaus, The Church, and Sisters of Mercy!! I discovered lots of really good music I'd never heard of before when I started tuning into Underground 80's!!biggrin

Yep, I'll be here. I might scoot out early because of this whole time change thing though, but hopefully I'll stay for the first hour.

Me too, although it was a hard-won interest he fostered. Joy Division as well. When I was an 80's chick I didn't like any of them, mostly because of the annoying social clique that played them incessantly and snubbed everyone else for their "normalcy."

During the 80's I was still listening to a lot of early stuff from the 70's.  Mainstream radio just waaaaay over-played too much music and I got sick of hearing the same songs playing every couple of hours.  And when Disco was really hot on the airwaves, I pretty much turned it off.  hmm

Good for you. There was some great music to be had! My mom and dad played a big role in my interests. When I was little they both played their guitars to put me to sleep as often as they told me bedtime stories, and they played their stereo a lot, so I grew to love much of their music.

Yeah, I like to think I fostered a love of music in both of my girls.  When they were little, I always had music playing, and as soon as they could pull themselves up by hanging onto furniture, they'd be bopping around!!  When my oldest was 4, Duran Duran was her favorite.  She always asked me to play "that wolf song", haha.

laughing.gif That's cool! Music is so ageless...I loved listening to Sly and the Family Stone, the Beatles, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd with my parents, to name a few. Needless to say, the other Girl Scout moms did not approve of my musical tastes much.

I was raised on MTV, almost literally. From it's inception to the early 90's, that's basically the only thing we watched!

I watched a lot of MTV, too. I really thought Headbanger's Ball was fun! I must be old now, because I don't like how the format evolved...too many reality shows and too much bling and fluff for me. hmm.gif

Yeah, I loved MTV when it first came on.  It was so exciting to watch your favorite musicians in a video.  But now with all the reality shows they have on, I hardly ever watch that station anymore.

Headbanger's Ball was kick azzz!!!!  smile
