Worst pop song/band of the 1980's

What song or band did you absouletly despise the most in the 1980's?

Or did you first love a song, then fm radio killed it by playing it every 20 minutes for 4 years?

Or did you hate a song so much back then that you now love it because you remember hating it so much?

For me the song is "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo. I remember thinking way back in 1983 that I would hate that song forever. Nearly 22 years later I find that I am right!

Hmmmm,

You mean to tell me you hate "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo EVEN MORE than you hate "Cry" by Godley & Creme?

Man, songs I HATED, I hate to say it but I can't think of ONE!  I mean, there were songs that I didn't care for, but nothing comes to mind as a song that just made me cringe.

Now, if you were talking about TODAY, I could put the entire genre of RAP into that category JD!

oh that was a bad song too! man o man YUCK! It was songs like that that drove me to jazz!! Speaking of which, we have a jazz show here at Freeze Frame that airs Sunday from 8-10 pm CST called Jazz 101. This is followed by 2 additional hrs of jazz programming that takes us right up to midnight! The Sunday Night Jazz Fest on Freeze Frame! Crack open the wine and join us!

Yes, but Riggs you are not the main targeted audience for this genre! Unlike jazz, that targets everyone! wooo!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah, BUT I AM the target audience!  They want ANYONE with Ca$h to buy their product!

I'm amazed at how often I pull up next to some white, suburban yuppie, dressed up in his suit and tie, driving his lexus, blaring Tupac singing about putting a cap in someone's a**!

Don't fool yourself J.D.  We're ALL the target audience.

And for crying out loud, I already listen to Jazz 101, why do you keep insisting I tune in!

I absolutely cannot stand "What I Am" by Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians.  I loved "Circle" and some of the other songs from Shooting Rubberbands At The Stars, but I did not like that song.  I hated the line religion is like a smile on a dog.  That bothered me.  My sister used to play it constantly.  I also did not like Vogue by Madonna.  The only thing worse than listening to it was seeing all the girls at my high school doing the dance to it.    I would rather electric slide than vogue.  Oh, wait.  It could and did get worse at some of the dances.  Vogue followed by Achy Breaky Heart.  Suicide cocktail, I'm thinking YES!

Of the bands...hmmm....  I don't know, there are so many to choose from.  I did not like Color Me Bad.  Milli Vanilli made me want to throw things (before and after the truth came out).  Girardo was horrible, but that is a given.  Those are the top three, anyway.

DOH!

I LOVED two of Paul Youngs songs.  "Come Back & Stay" and "Love Of The Common People"

I gotta admit they probably do suck, but they're so damn catchy

That was a pretty good song too!

Hey!  What do you say to an all-Paul Young day?!?!?!?!

Just messin' with you ASSISON, that would go against RIAA regulations, but if it didn't..... hmmmm.........

Fortunately for me he never recorded that much. And yes I was listening when the request was played. I will survive, I am a true freeze frame fan and I do not tune out when you play something I do not like!

Well, we DO appreciate that!

And like you said, he really didn't have many hits, so you should be fairly safe from hearing anything.

I suspect MoCrzy likes to rock the boat by requesting anything he reads people don't like   That's good too though, the world needs boat rockers, it keeps things interesting.

It's not that, It's that I like the artists that people seem to knock on...When I heard about Mr. (or Ms.) Anono-person trying to dis KC before her song was even played, you said that her other stuff was very 80's...well I love Moment like this, & hadn't heard it in a while...so I requested away...so......

again, I've missed a request,though...this time I was giving blood downstairs, I also missed growing pains...I love that one...

Mo, You've missed TOO many of your favorite songs recently.

I think it's time to ask the boss, no wait, I think it's time you INSIST to the boss that you be outfitted with a wireless Laptop computer so you can listen wherever you are in the building.

Just something to consider.

And I'm glad to know I have an allie in my appreciation of KC!

Hey Jeremy - I'll confess.  It was me, Dan in Nashville that took the shot at Kelly!  Sorry just could not resist messing with ya. :)  I'll admit she does has a good voice and is easy on the eyes - her songs just get really old with me in a hurry though.  Paul Young songs beat her out any day.  ha!ha!

lol, I shoulda known it was you Dan!  You've always been the leading anti-Clark member of the station

Who knows maybe this next single will be the one that turns you?

You're right though, I mean, the songs are kind of disposable, but I always thought that was pretty much true of most good 80's music.

You REALLY should just be grateful I haven't tried to subject you to any Justin Guarini

Hey!

What are you guys talking about?!!?  Stars On 45 Rocked!

We got two volumes of their greatest hits in our library!

They did excellent Medleys of the Beatles, Abba, Star Wars & More!

And their song length rivaled those of Meat Loaf's work!  Perhaps it's time to play the 17 minutes Beatles medley eh?

I love 99 luftballoons.  I don't like the 99 red balloons version, but I love the german version.  I was in Germany when it came out and they played it like crazy, but I couldn't get enough of it.  In a kind of cross over thing from the shout box, I bought a CD from Razor and Tie at Walmart because it had 99 luft balloons on it, but lo and behold, it was 99 red balloons.  I was so angry.  Walmart won't let you take them back after you open them unless they are defective, so I couldn't even return it.
