Thanksgiving Plans?

We are having breakfast with Sparky's family and dinner with mine. Hopefully some relaxing is in order too. The next day should be an interesting one....working in a mall.....I think I will have someone take me to work.

For the last five years it's been a tradition to have Thanksgiving dinner at my house, except for the one year my Dad was too sick to travel so we had it there.

So, this year again I'll be hosting Thanksgiving dinner for my Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Uncle. Plus as an added bonus this year Jennifer (FireFly) will be here as part of our new "Invite A Listener To Thanksgiving Dinner" promotion at Freeze-Frame Radio. biggrin.gif

I'm done with all my Christmas shopping, so on black Friday I'll just be sitting by my living room windows, sipping hot chocolate, laughing at all the people rushing to the stores. smile.gif

We're still ironing out the Thanksgiving plans. We usually drive up Wednesday night, but I have a tai chi class Wednesday night, so we're going up Thursday morning (back "home", 4 hour drive). Then we're going to my step-grandparents because I can eat their food. I'm hoping they start at noon, because after that we're going to my in-laws for dessert. (Which reminds me, I was going to order a cake I can eat.) Then we're going to try to fit a visit to a friend in there. After that is still up in the air. I want to visit my dad on the drive back, but I don't know if he has Friday or Saturday off. If he has Friday off, we'll leave Friday morning, visit with my dad a while, then continue the drive home. If he has Saturday off, then we'll visit another friend or two on Friday then leave Saturday morning.

I hate the holidays. Just one year I'd like everyone to come to me.

I just called my Mom on this who told me that they were having dinner at my sister's. I laughed and said that we weren't invited. My mom called and found at (which I'm not sure I buy) that my sister thought we always spent Thanksgiving up north. With who? Grandma is dead and his folks are in Arizona every winter! And we have all spent Thanksgiving together and have fought over what we were gonna do in regards to Mom. I have a feeling that Friday will be better- lol

Hopefully baby Amanda will be there and make the day more enjoyable. smile

I hear ya! I thought it might be better now that we rent a house (it's small but whatev!) but still nobody visits and my sister is only at the most 15 min away! My mom is about 40min.

We have a friend from high school that is still single and alone. She lost her mom early this year and now has no family here. We invited her over for Thanksgiving Dinner. Mrs Web is planning ham, twice baked potatoes, peach pie, and other goodies.

Hey, here's a question for you . . .

People make fun of us out here for eating "dinner" at the noon time meal. Its lunch at noon and dinner is the evening meal.

So, if that is so wrong, why do we all eat Thanksgiving dinner for the noon meal? Why isn't it Thanksgiving lunch?

Hmm?

Hmm?

I was just thinking about that the other day.

We've always referred to it as Thanksgiving Dinner even though we eat at 1 PM.

This year I pushed it back to 2 PM to give myself a chance to watch the Packer game that starts at 11:30. clap.gif

GO PACK! We're 9 - 1 and over our last 14 games we're 13 - 1. WE ROCK!

the stranglers will be hosting thanksgiving (lunch) this year. looks like there will be approx 22 people -- 12 will be kids that hopefully spend the day outside. we'll be providing the ham and turkey, sweet potato casserole, and broccoli & cauliflower and beverages -- everyone else will bring sides of some sort. mother will be happy to see all the kids.

for some reason I think JD is full of SH*T. nod.gif I doubt his momma would let him be alone. If she would I am sure that JR wouldnt want his star DJ alone either.

JD.......but since they might...(this is JR, I wont bring up last christmas) you are welcome to join us at my family dinner. biggrin.gif

lol, well my sister just stuck her foot in her mouth! The topic of Thanksgiving came up and she said she threw out the possibility of us going north so that I had an out and didn't have to come. Why? It's not at Mom's confused

Then in the same conversation she said that she really wasn't sure and thought we would be going north. And then tried to guilt me that I never tell her anything. *rolls eyes*

We'll be having the Thanksgiving meal at my house again this year.   It's become a tradition since both my mom and my husband's mom have passed away.  This year we will have an addition at the table since my nephew will still be here, so there will be 12 of us eating.  After dinner, all of us except my dad will be probably be playing some Guitar Hero and Soul Calibur.

And I'll be one of the people out at 4:00 the next morning scoping up some deals on Christmas gifts.  biggrin

It's dinner with the family, but at Mom & Dad's instead of Grandma's house this time. My sister and brother-in-law won't be there because they are vacationing somewhere in the Carribbean, but the usual family attendance is in order otherwise. I'm responsible for bringing the appies...yay! I like ti when I get the easy stuff. nod.gif

I'm sad that I probably won't be able to listen in Friday night. We'll either be out visiting or driving back home.
