Kevin DuBrow

Lady Strange, was Kevin in any other bands?

When I saw your first post about his death I had no idea who he was. I was shocked to find out it was the guy from Quiet Riot!

I'm thinking that maybe when deaths like this happen we could have a memorial weekend instead of a new music weekend, where we play all the music from the artist.

Since you're the authority on musicians and which bands they were in, I thought I'd best check with you to see if he was with anyone other than Quiet Riot.

Solo stuff, lots of tribute albums & guest vocals.
He was so cool. I loved him.

KEWL! My husband worships Glenn Hughes (As did Kevin.) We finally got to meet Glenn last year when he played NYC. (Got any pictures you'd like to share?) biggrin.gif

Never did bring the camera.....hung out with Glenn for several years...he played a concert with a group called voices of classic rock (over the years, the lead singers from Deep Purple, Santana, Toto, Rare Earth, Orleans, Pablo Cruise, The Knack, Gary US Bonds, John Cafferty, just to name a few) played and I helped out at the concert and at the sponsoring radio station's golf outing the next day...thats where I got lots of face time...but always forgot the camera!

Oh, that's awesome! What do you think of the albums Glenn has done with Joe Lynn Turner? I think they're great together.

Yeah, I remember JLT doing those shows. I wish they'd tour America together - that'd be cool.

The death last month of Kevin Dubrow, lead singer for the 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot, has been ruled an accidental cocaine overdose. Clark County coroner spokeswoman Samantha Charles confirmed the cause Monday after toxicology results were received Monday.

Dubrow was found dead Nov. 25 at his Las Vegas home. He was 52.

Quiet Riot was perhaps best known for its 1983 cover of "Cum on Feel the Noize." The song, featuring Dubrow's powerful, gravelly voice, appeared on the band's album "Metal Health" _ which was the first by a metal band to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

DuBrow recorded a solo album in 2004, "In for the Kill," and the band's last studio CD, "Rehab," came out in October 2006.

Can they really call it accidental? Everytime you put the poison into your body you know the risks involved.

OR...or did he trip over the coffee table and at the exact moment he landed nose first into the mirror and accidentally snuffed in entirely too much cocaine? That I can see as an accident.

Sad either way. no.gif

Yeah, it's accidental in the same way playing Russian Roulette and getting the bullet is accidental.

Still though, I sympathize.  I think these guys get started on the stuff feeling they're invincible and before they know it they're addicted and can't stop themselves.

But let's not call it an accident.

I think the "accident" term is put there so you know it wasn't intended suicide.
