Evel Knievel Died Of Natural Causes in Bed Posted on: 03-12-2007 in Entertainment Washington (eCanadaNow) - Legendary daredevil Evel Knievel died in bed of natural causes at the age of 69 on Friday.
Knievel is famous for his death-defying stunts which had him jumping over Greyhound buses on his motorcycle. He also jumped Mack trucks, as well as an attempt at jumping over the Snake River Canyon in Idaho.
The granddaughter of Evel, Krysten Knievel, stated that her grandfather died in Clearwater, Florida due to his fight with diabetes as well as an incurable disease which did damage to his lungs.
Over the course of his career, Knievel broke 40 bones in his body and had a liver transplant back in 1999.
His most well-known stunt was a failed attempt in 1974 to jump over the Snake River Canyon while riding a rocket-powered motorcycle.
In 1970 he jumped over a record 18 cars in Seattle, then 19 cars before 78,000 fans in Ontario, California.
His last stunt was in 1977 when he was injured during a test run for a shark-tank jump in Chicago. A cameraman also lost an eye during the incident.
His death came just two days after he settled a federal suit with Kanye West over the use of his trademarked image in one of the music videos of the rap star.
I will have to get my stunt cycle out of the basement.
