Another day at the coal mine. (digging out of the work) Tonight is tree shopping, pizza (@home) and then the art show. www.myspace.com/theborgward

I can't look at MySpace stuff at work so, I'm not really sure what they have at the space.

Saturday is tree decorating & house cleaning.
Sunday, dinner with the kid. He's cooking me and the wife a special holiday dinner in honor of his tree being decorated.confused

We got a dusting of snow here, and people are driving like idiots.

In other news, the Service Engine light in my car came on. I hate that light. It is so uninformative, and there's usually nothing wrong with my car when it comes on. I think AutoZone will let you use their diagnostic machine for free, I'll have to check into it...

Good morning all! More snow here...it's pretty but annoying to deal with the impact on the morning commute. I am so happy it's almost the weekend! Tonite I'm going out for Thai or Indian food. hungry.gif Then I think some wine is in order!

good morning, everyone! tulsa metro weather is turning yucky! i'd much rather have the snow than what is headed our way sunday and monday -- freezing rain! bleh.gif right now it's sprinkling lightly.

i've been in town since 6:30. yawn.gif jake joined the wrestling team and had to be at the school to prepare to leave by 7 to a meet in oolagah. he hasn't wrestled in about 3 years, so i don't know how he'll do. i do know that if your kid is a great wrestler, it's not a "mom friendly" sport. i know mom's who spend anywhere from 6 to 12 hours at tournaments bleh.gif

pardon me while i go nap... yawn.gif

I'm at work today. My husband made me stay home yesterday. I had to resort to hot toddy's to actually get some sleep. Sleep feels so good! I am still pretty tired but my cough has seemed to lessen. However it still sounds horrible when I do cough. I have so much work to do. I am so glad it is Friday! My niece has her baby shower tomorrow but I think i'm gonna skip it. It's at 1pm and if I get to sleep I don't want to have to wake up to an alarm to make it. I needs my sleep. My sister already told me that she didn't think that I would be coming because i sounded horrible. Oh and my nephew got thrown in jail! I think it's just what he needs. I could see this coming years ago! I don't know all the circumstances but I believe it was for drinking and driving without a license to boot!

Well I need to try and get some work done now. hmm

Hey Mz, AutoZone does have a diagnostic machine, and its free. Except it has been my experience that they get the code, go to look up the code, and can't interpret the code. But its good to have the code to tell the service guy "I know the code, I just don't know what it means..."

I certainly do hope your experience is different than mine.

This has happened once before about 3 years ago. At that time, I worked with a guy who had one of those scanners. I plugged it in, wrote down the code, looked up the code and it was basically gibberish. But, just by reading it, that made the light go out. So the fact that the AutoZone people can't read it doesn't surprise me.

But, I'd rather make the determination myself. If I take it to a shop, they're sure to find something to fix just to get paid. Plus, I can always get the code and call my brother in law who is a full time (and then some) mechanic.

i used to have a 91 chevy blazer that the service engine light would come on now and again, but there wasn't ever anything wrong with it. when i sold it about five years ago, she had almost 100,000 miles on the same engine and transmission. it's still running great and has over 150,000 miles on it. my husband says that gmc vehicles seem to have this problem. my ma has a buick lasabre and she has the same problem, she takes it to the shop and he runs a diagnostic but can't find a problem... if your car is gmc then maybe it's nothing...

The check engine light came on on my Mazda pickup at exactly 60,000 miles. There are a bunch of maintenance things you're supposed to do at 60k. I called one Mazda dealer and they said "no, the mileage is just a coincidence". I called another dealer, and they said "Yes, it is a warning to get you in to do all the suggested maintenance" (that I was doing myself anyway). That was about 30,000 miles ago and the light is still on. lol

Yep, it is a GMC, a Saturn.

I'm hoping by having AutoZone read it, it'll either turn the light off (I don't want that on all the time), or I'll find out if something really is wrong with the car. I really want to have that light off when I take it in to get the oil changed again so they don't try to say that I need to get something fixed. Last time they wanted to charge me $300 for new brake pads. But, I have a coupon for a $7 oil change, that's cheaper than if I did it myself. And I can get the tires rotated for free at the same time.

Mornin, anyone get the license plate number of that truck? We had 400 people here last night. Everything was going pretty well until about 7:00. We have an elderly client with prostate cancer that drank too much and passed out hit his head and vomited all over himself. It was just like a movie, everone was walking around trying to find a doctor in the crowd. We had a dermatologist and a nurse here so they worked on him until the ambulance came. They think the chemo and alcohol is what did it.

We've been driving our Toyota (Camry) for almost 1/2 year with the engine light on. We've done all the things you should... gas cap, valve thing etc. All actual Toyota OEM.
It doesn't clunk out or burn more gas than before. I personally don't like the car. It's my father in law's old car. Since he had a stroke four years ago, he doesn't drive. It's the only car he can get in and out of fairly easy.

Well, when I went to the bank and pharmacy at lunch, the light didn't come on. Maybe my car was just confused by the snow.

A lot of times the dealer has to hook the vehicles computer up to their computer and do a code reset. Maybe this is it.

Yay, it's Friday and I'm ready for the weekend!! Going to put up the tree and get it decorated tomorrow, then if it isn't too cold out, we'll get the outside lights up too.  We got about 2 inches of snow this morning, and it's been snowing lightly all day....just enough to put a slick glaze on the roads.  hmm  Have I mentioned how much I hate winter??!!

Mz, hope it's nothing major with your car!

G-gal, enjoy your birthday dinner!!  Either one of your choices sound good to me! smile

Hope everyone's Friday went well!! smile

Tomorrow the hubby is gonna fish and E and I have a hair cut appointment, she has practice for the church Christmas program and I need to get some shopping done. Sunday it is church and my aunt is taking E and I to the Nutcracker- can't wait!
