Bedroom Posters 80's Style

Hey! What posters did you have hanging in your room in the 1980's? Remember??

I had the poster that came in the Van Halen I album (that was MY BAND the first 2 yrs of high school). I also had a big naughty poster of Samantha Foxx. My mom frowned upon that, but the old man was just happy to be assured that the kid liked the ladies, so they let it be!

I know this is going to shock you all, but I had Duran Duran posters in my room.  They were arranged "just so".  I put a Duran Duran flag over the ceiling so that it covered my ceiling light, but would not catch flame (although my brother truly hoped it would).  I also had a Duran Duran mirror on the wall.  I thought my room looked so great that I have pictures of it to this day.  They're not out on the coffee table or anything, but I have them nonetheless.  I still have the posters, the flag, the mirror, the bag, the folders, the videos, the tapes...Do I really need to go on?

I had my room decorated like a record store with all the crap I pulled out of the store trash bins.

I was so sad, I actually would build "displays".  I was a little republican through and through

BUT, Mr. Jazz Doctor, I know exactly what Sam Fox poster you're talking about and I had it too!

Was it the bigger version of the album cover, with her hanging on a rope and the back of her jeans facing you with a big tear through one of the butt cheek areas?  I LOVED THAT POSTER!

The secret to getting Mom to let you keep it was to put a slightly LARGER poster over it!  And keep your door locked at all times!

The teeny bopper mags in Germany are a little bit more risque than the ones here.  My brother stole my issue that showed Samantha Fox IN THE NUDE!!!!!!!!!!  I was in shock.  He didn't put them up and I never saw it again and I didn't want it back.

Yeah, I remember she was famous for that Trish.

She used to be the page 6 girl (or whatever page it was) in the UK.  Apparantly everyday they have a new woman in the nude in the middle of their paper!

Quite frankly though, I prefer the scantily clad photo's Gotta leave SOMETHING to the imagination!

Plus, that helped create a bit of a grey line so Mom couldn't bust me.  COME ON, IT'S NOT LIKE SHE'S NAKED!

I had mostly Dallas Cowboys and Cincy Reds posters on my walls but managed to sneak in one of Suzanne Somers that I was rather fond of.

Along this same line, does anyone remember how they used to have big belt buckles with rock group logos on them? - I will 'fess up and admit to owning a Bee Gees one and a Cheap Trick one.

Awww sure, I remember those belt buckles.  But I never owned one.  I was never a belt buckle wearer.

What about those dumb little 6" X 6" mirrors of your favorite artists?  They came in that crappy cardboard frame.  You usually won them at a festival or fair or something.  Man, I hated those things even then, but still gobbled up as many as I could.

And you'd take the stupid cardboard frame off and find out it was pretty much there to hide the fact that the mirror was made like crap and all the edges were chipped away and cracked!

I think they still have those, but I don't think they're anywhere near as popular.

Darn it, I was boring then, All I had were some sports posters, Jose Canseco, Mark MacGuire, and Rickey Henderson, All when they Played for the Oakland A's, It sucked though...cuz everytime I'd put a poster up, they'd get traded within 6 months, Canseco to Texas, Henderson to the Yankees, and Big Mac to St Louis...once big mac got traded I stopped putting up those posters, & Karen McDougal PMOY 1997 went on my wall Woo-Hoo

Nothing wrong with Michael J Fox... I love BTTF, Doc Hollywood, Family Ties...Still one of my favorite actors....Now I never had a poster of him on my wall .... but nothing to be ashamed of....

Actually I lie, He is on my wall right now, I have the original Back to the Future Poster on my wall, SO I guess I do have A Michael J Fox Poster

BTW Little trivia here...What Is Michael J Fox's REAL NAME, & why did he change it?

I'm not 100% sure, because it's been awhile since I read about him, but is his middle name actually different?

He had to use Michael J. Fox because the actors guild already had a Michael Fox or Michael A Fox, or whatever it was?

Yup, the Guild already had a Michael Fox, and his middle initial is A, and he just wanted to avoid future headlines like Michael's A Fox. So he changed it to Michael J. Fox..

What's the J stand for...Nothing...Just a J...

I had pictures of Corey Haim everywhere.  I was such a nerd.  Now he's a total wash-up.  But man...he had it all in the 80's...ok, maybe not.

Ok I found this thread when I was looking up something else. I always had new posters up. I wasted much of my money on all the teen poster mags! Corey Haim, Michael J Fox, Kirk Cameron, etc. Nothing stayed the same until I got into New Kids On The Block. Then the whole room was them. I had even joked about putting posters on the floor and finding something to go over it so they didn't get ruined! Trish wrote something about putting a DD flag over her light, I did that too for awhile! LOL! I also did it with a red bandana! Good times. Hey maybe I'll post my NKOTB poster room pictures!

I had to spread it around, but my Dad said "Absolutely not!" when I started putting them on my ceiling.

I had the Farrah one up until the very early 80's, until music became my obcession.

Then I spread the love:
One big wall, which was split between Bon Jovi & The WHO, one Stryper wall, one that featured some Electric Angels & favorite female artists: Donna Summer, Patty Smyth, Fiona..., and one 1/2 a KISS wall.

Also had the Stryper door poster, with no wall space left.  And on the inside of my door was hooks & things, so I couldn't put it there.  Therefore, the poster ended up on the outside of my door, so you could see it as soon as you walked in the living room.  But my parents were cool with that.  Both loved Stryper.  My Mom used to get up and wave "Good morning, boys!"

My bedroom was totally hair bands. My uncle worked in a record store, so I got a lot of posters when they were done with them (that's if my mom didn't take them first). I had Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Slaughter, Van Halen, Poison, Motley Crue, Nelsons, and Sebastian Bach. And I had a Mel Gibson press shot next to my bed, and this poster on my door:

My mom had no problem with any of these. I think she was jealous.

Do you still have your rock posters, Molly?

Oh, I remember, I also had this one:

I had a wall in my room that was all cork board, so I had plenty of poster room.

But most of the posters got trashed, so I don't have them any more.

That's sad.  I still have all of mine, and they're in great shape.

And my house is still filled with rock posters.  Only they're framed, because you know --- I'm an adult *cough*

We've got a rock wall designated in our living room. We've got a few posters that we need to get frames for, but I think they're all my hubby's. His guitars are also leaning against that wall with his fingering chart, but eventually I'd like to hang the guitars up too.

Hey Molly - if I were to give your husband $1, would he play for us?

Yeah, but you probably wouldn't want him to. He plays ON the guitar, but he doesn't really play guitar, if you know what I mean.
