80's Products R.I.P.

My mom would always buy the 2 for 1's on White Rain Hair mousse? moose? (sic?) so there was enough in the house for her and for her mulleted hair-drying sons. LOL.....is mousse even a product anymore?? What did you need to have in the 1980's product-wise? Is it still around or what killed/replaced it?

I loved Jello pudding pops.  Those were the best.  I heard that they are coming back with them.  I can't wait.  Maybe they will make a low carb version.  Ha ha.

Mine is also food related...cookies more to be exact...I used to love these shortbread type cookies from keebler called Swirly-Q's...I've searching for that taste since. I also liked Keebler's Soft Batch Cookies (Mint Flavor), they got rid of all of their different flavors ecxcept penutbutter and chocolate...DAMN YOU KEEBLER!!!!

Product Wise, I used to use a Hair Spray (I hate that buzzed look, I like having hair...even though it doesn't like staying w/ me) called Hair Glue... You could go out all day in the highest of winds...and not a hair would move out of place...When they discontinued it, we bought a case to make sure we had some for time to come...my hair isn't as rigid now, but that stuff was the best.

OOO another food, Lucky Charms....Ok Ok ...I know they are still around, but what actually happened to the "Lucky Charm" part of LC's, Back in the 80's it was Pink Hearts, Orange Stars, Yellow Moons, Green Clovers, & Blue Diamonds...Then they started adding all the weird ones, Purple Horseshoes, red Balloons, Rainbows, Pots of Gold, Lucky's Green Hat, and recently they got rid of The Hat & introduced band new GREEN CLOVERS!!!! THOSE ARE OLD!!! NOT NEW!!!GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

I loved Aqua Net hairspray to keep my hair ten feet tall. I loved Jolt soda too. In my senior year my best friend and I drank a six pack and stayed up all night. She went into some kind of sugar trance and freaked out though! I also loved Frankenberry cereal. I still it sometimes aroung Halloween.

O.K.  Not really a product story, but funny (or so I think).  One Christmas, a neighbor of ours gave us rum balls in a tin.  Having never had rum balls, I thought they were made with rum flavoring.  I had a friend stay the night and we ate THE WHOLE TIN.  We were laughing our butts off and making up silly songs that we thought were so good.  Yeah, in the morning my mom informed us that we had been drunk.  I think I was all of 14.  I still think it was one of the funnest sleepovers yet.

I had a pounding headache, of course.  I couldn't figure out why we thought the song we made up was so damn good.  We made up the song, the dance, the whole shmear.  It was awful!  Of course, when our neighbor made them the next year and gave them to us, I took them and hid them immediately.  I know a good buzz when I find it!

At least you were drunk when you did that!

I wrote a whole album of songs when I was like 16 and I was totally sober :(

I made a "wierd al" album, cus he was red hot at the time with "Eat It", I thought my stuff was the BEST.  I was actually going around singing them all the time.

The best one was "Wake Me Up To Eat A Ho Ho" instead of "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go"
(You know I don't like eating Oreo's Or Rollo's).  My favorite part was the line where they would sing "You know you make me hit that hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh", but I had re-written it "You know I wanna eat that piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie".

Sad really, just plain sad

I thought it sounded really good.  You should find them again and look them over.  You might have something there.  You know we'd listen.

When I was in junior high, my friends and I formed this club.  It was called MASS (Male Ass Squeezing Society).  We thought we were so cool.  Our school was 7th thru 12th grade.  I was in 8th grade and we pestered the 12th graders.  Those poor guys.  Had they looked twice at us, we should have been really scared, but we didn't think of that.  ANYWAY, we made up perverted versions of songs.  We turned the Outfield's song "All the love in the world" into a very dirty ditty.  "I can't believe your (insert male body part here)'s as big as a tree" was the first line and I'll leave the rest to your imagination.  We were 13 year olds playing at being adults.  By 9th grade the club was history.

I haven't seen jolt for ever.  But now they have the "all natural" versions so you can feel better about drinking it.

Mu favorite 80's product was actually a game called Dark Tower by Milton Bradley.  I think it was the first game ever to have a computer in it, as simple as it was.  It came out I think in 1981, and my brother and I saw a commercial for it and had to have it.  Well, it was so fun my parents played it all the time too!  I've recently bought a couple of them off ebay and given them as Christmas gifts to my parents and brother.  That was the best game ever!

There was this candy bar that for the life of me I can't remember the name (I know it was a one word name like CRASH or POWER or SURGE). It was in a teal package and had chocolate, crispies, peanut butter...loved them.  They got rid of those fairly quickly.

There was one product that was 90's (I know, I'm breaking the rules), but it was a drink called JOSTA. I think it was from coke, and it was a tea-infused soda drink.  Huge Caffeine provider. Didn't last long on the market, but I would drive an hour to Madison to pick up cases of it (they didn't sell it in Milwaukee)

Come on out to SD we still have Jolt Cola! My favorite 80's drink was called New York Seltzer, it came in little glass bottles 8oz or 10oz.  I don't remember but they were flavored and had a little bite to them. And it was all before the Nutrasweets of the world.

I also have not seen Jolt for some time, but I do see JOLT GUM in the convenience stores.  I use it from time to time.

Have to tell you, I was in Wally World today at lunch and I found boxes and boxes of Swedish Fish.  Only the red ones but they were in the seasonal aisle of the grocery section.  It was amongst the Valentines candy and gifts.  I bought two boxes of them.  One for work and one for home.  My coworkers love but hate me.  No control.......  Thanks Sam!

Am I remembering incorrectly, but wasn't Pepsi Free all the rage for a while in the mid 80's?

CP, You are correct. Pepsi Free was introduced in 1982. It was the worst I thought!

I think you can get swedish fish at www.germandeli.com .  They have all kinds of exotic gummis that are hard to get over here.  I love to shop there.  Wished I lived in Texas, where they have their shop.  That would be awesome.  They give out SAMPLES!

I remember likeing both those too sparky- I remember  when they announced that NY Seltzer was coming off of the shelves- I remember thinking or hearing there was not a good compelling reason for it to be discontinued- people really seemed to like it, I saw it everywhere...
