Internet Radio at more risk?

Somehow I have a feeling this wouldn't be good for us!  Time-Warner is testing a billing fee based on usage rather than just a flat rate.  With a constantly running upload to broadcast the station I imagine that could have quite an impact on us.

Furthermore, users that were tuned in a lot may find that their bills are higher than they like.  hmm.gif  Hopefully this won't take off.

-------------------------------------------------------

NEW YORK - Time Warner Cable Inc said on Wednesday it is planning a trial to bill high-speed Internet subscribers based on their amount of usage rather than a flat fee, the standard industry practice.

The second largest U.S. cable operator said it will test consumption-based billing with subscribers in Beaumont, Texas later this year as a part of a strategy to help reduce congestion of its network by a minority of consumers who pay the same monthly fee as light users.

Yes I do.

They're the only one that let's me run the station.

AT&T is our other major provider and they block the request system because of supposed security risks.

Ugh, AT&T. As long as I have any kind of choice, even paying more, I will never again be an AT&T customer for any service.

Yet one more case where service providers advertise "Unlimited" service (within limits). no.gif

I'm glad I'm not a Time-Warner subscriber.  Hopefully this won't catch on and take off!!!

A long time ago I used AOL dial-up as my internet provider, and at that time, they considered a "light" user as 10 hours or less per month.   cry

My issue with AT&T was over billing.

At one time I had long distance with them. I switched. About a year and-a-half later, I started getting bills from AT&T for long distance service "minimum usage". I called and talked to them about it and they decided to put a minimum monthly usage on the plan I had had. She said since I didn't tell them I had switched providers, the account was still open, that is why the charges started up again. She said she would take care of it, but she didn't and it took two more billings and three more phone calls to them before they finally dropped it. I know a few other people here in town that started getting the same bills and had the same trouble getting it stopped.

What made me even more mad was how they "didn't know I switched providers" but yet that whole time, they were calling me every other week trying to get me to switch back to them. The sales side knew I was not an AT&T customer, I'm sure the billing side knew it too, but they were just trying to see how many people would pay the bill and not question it.

They did that to my dad too Web.  He dropped AT&T and went with a different provider.  He called them and told them he no longer wanted to use their services and they gave him a confirmation number.  Four months later, he was still receiving bills from AT&T, which he refused to pay.  I finally got involved and made a phone call to them.  When I was finally switched to the correct person they told me I needed to speak with, I was told it was an error on their part and he didn't owe them anything.  It made me wonder at that time how many other people this was happening to and how many were still paying a "bill that was sent out in error."

So, if you complained, it was "an error". If you paid it, the money was happily accepted and the error overlooked.

THAT is why I will never chose to be an AT&T customer again.

furious angered.gif Those darn greedy Time Warner people! Like they don't make enough profit off the consumer already! Honestly...with that and their poor customer service, how can their reps look so dumbfounded when I tell them I do not want any of their package deals?
