Its Friday

I'm home with the boy today. He woke up at 5:00 with tummy problems and he doesn't think he feels good enough to go to school. Right now, we're snuggled in watching cartoons. If he starts acting like he's ok, he might end up in school later today.

I wish I were all snuggled up watching cartoons! Um...not with you and the boy but in general!
It's supposed to get to 41 tomorrow so it should feel like 80 here. smile.gif

TGIF! This weekend we are planning on going to Snowfest in Frankenmuth. The weather has not cooperated the last few years so we have not gone but nothing should be melting this year. I'm not sure if that is a Sat or Sunday plan. We will see. My husband told the girl we were going, but didn't invite her just to see what she would say. She as usual just stated that she didn't know what she was doing yet- showing no interest. There are other things going on with her but it is clear that we are not apart of her life anymore. Ever since her Mom got a boyfriend, we are no longer involved in decisions. We are told after the fact. My husband is expecting her to go and raise the child support.

Well enough of that gloom- carry on

Although cold, that sounds like fun Woo! Good luck with the girl!

We took a look at some cars last night, and are thinking about a silver 2005 Pontiac Grand Am. They're asking something like $13,000, Blue Book says suggested retail is $11,800 in excellent condition and $9800 by a private seller. It has a couple cosmetic problems, a little wear on the liner and a tiny ding where someone probably hit it with a car door, but I can live with that. With all that considered, I think I can talk him down to $10,000. If not, well then, I'm not getting that car.

This morning I picked up a rental. It's gotten to the point where we need a car even if it's just for the weekend. I have to work at the tax office tonight and tomorrow, we need groceries, I need groceries from the co-op, we need to go to the pet store and do laundry (with some delicates, which means I have to take it to the laundry mat, not just use the washers at our property), and more general stuff. They have a weekend special going, I got a Ford Fusion for $20 a day and have to return it Monday morning. Hopefully I'll have a new car by then.

The Boy: Dad, can I have a snack?

Me: Yeah, what do you want?

The Boy: A cinnamon bread stick (left over from Pizza Hut last night).

Me: Oh, with your upset tummy, I don't think you should have one of those . . . unless your tummy is all better now?

The Boy: Yeah, its all better now!

Me: Ok, great then lets get you to school so you will only have missed a couple hours.

The Boy: Well . . . I'm sure my tummy would be hurting again by math time. What else can I have?

Me: How about a little cereal?

The Boy: Ok. (Heavy sigh)

I think I will take Logans advice.....sick tummy and stay home and cuddle. nod.gif I think he has it figured out....three day weekend!

I start my busiest 10 days of the year today. The Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo is here. We have every cowboy and his 15 kids in town for the first time since last year. They dont know how to drive in traffic...they dont tip...and they all complain about the prices. Oh and they are all in a hurry to go look at some cow asses. no.gif The good news.....I work six days straight during this...have one off and work some more. Note the sarcasm?? Actually I am hoping it brings in some extra money...thats the only way I will get through the week without calling in sick or killing some hick that tries to get me to give him a good deal because he is a poor rancher. Poor rancher my butt...they drive 40K trucks and pull horse trailers worth more than some peoples houses. Ok...I'm done now.

Have a good weekend. smile.gif

So which are more annoying, cowboys or chrome cowboys? Should I send up the Harley-Davidson "Horse Blankets" (eyeglasses cleaner)? I love what they say...

"Save a horse, ride a Harley."

Hey Heather,

Has the downturn in the economy hurt you guys at all?  I would think a motorcycle is a luxury for most people, expecially in the cold weather states.  Have your sales been dipping at all or does Harley still have a crazy long waiting list?

Yeah, we're getting hit...but such a big company is hard to hurt too badly at this point. It seems to be about the same for most motorcycle manufacturers right now. Because of it, Harley's budgets don't increase for 2008 and there's currently a hiring freeze for any new headcount.  This was in the news release that came out today:

"Revenue for the quarter was $1.39 billion compared to $1.50 billion in the year-ago quarter, a 7.7 percent decline. Net income for the quarter was $186.1 million compared to $252.4 million, down 26.3 percent versus the fourth quarter of 2006. Fourth quarter diluted earnings per share were $0.78, a 19.6 percent decrease compared to $0.97 in the fourth quarter of last year. During the fourth quarter the Company repurchased $153.3 million of its common stock." cry

They are totally different, the Chrome ones are usually not afraid to spend money...obviosly...they spent it on a bike. The others are used to getting everything handed to them in farm subsidies and things like...so dropping several hundred dollars is hard for them to do. I'll take the Chrome ones anyday....they tip better too.
