Car repair update

cry

T'aint good folks hmm.gif

The bill just keeps gettin' bigger.

All the basics (oil change, tire rotation, etc) then they did a tune up ($250) which they think MAY fix the stalling problem and they had to clean out the air intake which was highly contaminated (not sure what the charge is) now they're replacing the water pump which is leaking ($150).

I just walked down there to look at the leaking pump, it's definately leaking :(

I think this is gonna be about $700 when all is said and done and it's not even guaranteed to solve the stalling problem.

I hates cars!  bleh.gif

Well, the positive side is I should be able to take my trip to NC without too much worry. They did what I asked them to and looked for potential problems.

If the water pump went when I was halfway between here and NC I'd be in a pickle.

car problems stink

with our tax return we will probably be able to pay off my car. The downside- it needs a new radiator and has several other problems. On top of that the truck is still broke because we don't have the money to fix it. cry

I've never had my transmission fluid changed yet.

That's another expense I have to look forward too real soon.  Maybe when I get back.

I'd come and help push him home if he's in town. If he's out of state, he's on his own no.gif

Did they check the oxygen sensor JR?  A bad sensor will cause stalling.  I know a lot of mechanics here will do a tune-up first without checking the oxygen sensor.  Just a thought in case the tune-up and intake cleaning doesn't solve the problem.

Ugh, time to take the long walk to the mechanic and find out what the final bill is.

PIP:  Thanks for the tip.  If the car is still stalling after this I'll ask em' to look at that.

I'm back.

YAY!  With all the work they did I was thinking it would approach 1000 bucks.

The 93 year old lady behind the desk said $840, which I was ok with, then she put on her reading glasses and said $640, which I'm very happy with!  clap.gif

PLUS, the owner is very confident that the trottle something or other was the cause of the stalling and it's been fixed.  WOO HOO!

My Magellon 4250 arrived last night, I'm gonna go try it out around town. I'm really pumped up about this thing, it would have been GREAT when I was doing courier work. It makes me wanna go back just so I can put it to more use smile.gif
