Gas station operator charged with theft

The operator of a Wauwatosa convenience store and gas station has been charged with filing a false tax return and theft of sales tax proceeds.

Elfatih Ibrahim, 43, who operates the Midtown Shell Mart, faces a maximum of six years in prison and a find of $10,000 if convicted on the tax return charge and 10 years in prison and a fine of $25,000 for the theft of sales tax proceeds.

Ibrahim's wife, Soha Shanaa, has been charged with filing a fraudulent tax return and public assistance fraud, in a related matter. Ibrahim is scheduled to appear Feb. 18 in Dane County Court on his charges. Shanaa is scheduled to appear Feb. 13 in Waukesha County Court on her charges.
