80's fashion is so back

I'm going to an 80's party Friday night.  I no longer own any of my 80's clothes, and even if I did, I probably wouldn't fit into them.  So naturally, I went to Goodwill.  I had such a hard time finding anything.  Usually at Goodwill I have a hard time finding something that's not 80's.  I ended up buying this hideous off the shoulder shirt with purple, green, and gold sequins.  It's 80's, but it's hideous.  I've decided that I cannot wear that out in public.

So I started searching on the web, and ended up finding something perfect on a fashion site.  As in current fashion.  So I've decided to hit the mall tonight.

So it's very possible I will be buying new clothes to wear to an 80's party. no.gif

I hate that the younger crowd will not admit that it is not "new"

This is what I thought about getting, and pairing it with black leggings and a black tank top, but this company is in California and has an F on their BBB rating.  But I figure I might be able to find something similar at the mall.

I will post party pics as well.

ya know that would be a really good FFR party. The station started on the 80's and brought many of us here. I'd love an 80's party! How fun! smile

When I took the boy to see the new Veggie Tales movie, there was a young teen age girl in front of us that looked just like she had stepped out of the "Footloose" movie. She had on tall, tight jeans and a short jean jacket. I had to chuckle a little bit.

I don't have the body for the 80's aerobics instructor.

Is it dressier or informal Mz? If it's super casual, you could fix it easy - buy an 80's themed t-shirt form Hot Topic, cut holes in a pair of distressed jeans and pin the ankles! Then all you need is the right shoes - Old Navy probably has them for cheap. laughing.gif

Oh, and you can cut a slit in the collar and fringe the hem (or fringe and bead it) to go completely 80's. giggle.gif

There's no restriction, so it can be either.  I was actually thinking along those lines if I can't find something else: get a 80's t-shirt, probably from Hot Topic, cut out the collar, add a belt, and put it over a tank top.

It's sounds like a fun party to go to Mz.  If you have to buy something, you might want to check at Old Navy or Hot Topic for a shirt like the one in the pic you posted.  Last time I was at Hot Topic (Christmas) they had some shirts very similar to those.  Unfortunately they weren't at 80's prices.  hmm

I tried another Goodwill before hitting the mall, and found some pink jeans and a cropped denim jacket. Then I hit the mall and got some bangle bracelets and some big heart shaped hoop earrings.

I'm still missing shoes and a shirt to wear under the jacket.

Unless I find something else, I'll probably just wear a tank top under the jacket (I used to have a short cropped peach button up Key Largo tank top. If I still have that, it'll probably work really well. But I might've given that away.)

For shoes, I'll probably wear the knee high boots I have now, just over my jeans, scrunch them down, and put an ankle bracelet around the ankle of one boot. The heel is wide, and the toe is kind of squared off, so they're not perfect for 80's, but I think they'll work.
