What If ......

JR's "another thousand posts" thread got me thinking. I know its dangerous when that happens, but sometimes I can't help it.

What if?

What if JR had not started FFR?

We wouldn't have all these great songs at our fingertips to request when we feel like it.

He would not have started this forum.

Most of us would not know each other and most likely would never have met at all.

I wouldn't know
any of you. cry.gif

Think about that for a minute . . . imagine if this forum had never started. Except for those of you who already knew each other, you likely wouldn't know anyone else here.

How much different would your daily routine be?

How much different would your list of friends be?

Many times, I've thought and read comments about how glad I am that we've have this forum to build friendships, and that is true. But, when you trace back anything related to us all, it
all goes back to JR and that moment in time when he decided to chase his dream, and start a new hobby.

Everything we know as FFR, came from that moment he decided to go for it.

How much different would your life be if it were not for that one moment in time and that one decision made by one person?

Deep Thoughts By WebGuy smile

I was gonna be a smartazz and say that I would be a more productive employee had I not stumbled upon this place- but now that I think about it- would I really?
Sometimes I don't feel like doing anything, but after a few comments from you guys and my frame of mind may change and I start working better. I would be listening to music whether FFR existed or not, but there is nothing better out there. I would probably spend more time searching for something because my ears were not happy.

Most of my friends live in my computer, so I suppose I would be quite lonely without this place. cry

Thank you JR! smile

I've thought about this too. FFR has impacted my life so much. I've grown a lot as a person in the past 3 years, but I've also grown professionally, and I can attribute parts of both to FFR.

Man, I love you guys!

Indeed. It was one of those life-time dreams to be a dj. Not just a canned voice on the radio, not stuck to a Clear-Channel playlist. But to be a real old-school dj. Can't thank him enough for the privelege of that, or for getting to know you friends.smile

its kinda like what Springsteen's singin about in Radio Nowhere:

I was tryin' to find my way home
But all I heard was a drone
Bouncing off a satellite
Crushin' the last lone American night
This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?
This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?

I was spinnin' 'round a dead dial
Just another lost number in a file
Dancin' down a dark hole
Just searchin' for a world with some soul

This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?
This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?
Is there anybody alive out there?

I just want to hear some rhythm
I just want to hear some rhythm
I just want to hear some rhythm
I just want to hear some rhythm

I want a thousand guitars
I want pounding drums
I want a million different voices speaking in tongues

This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?
This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?
Is there anybody alive out there?

I was driving through the misty rain
Searchin' for a mystery train
Boppin' through the wild blue
Tryin' to make a connection to you

This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?
This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?
Is there anybody alive out there?

I just want to feel some rhythm
I just want to feel some rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm

smile

For me it is simple...it was God's plan! smile Sometimes His plans for us do not make sense, but this one has always been pretty clear to me.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again.  I am so grateful that JR was cruising around on Myspace one day and came across my page where he invited me to drop by and give the station a listen.  He also inivited me to join the forum; he said "that's where the fun really takes place." biggrin  Even though I've only been here a little over a year now, I feel I've come to know all of you and I really do consider each and every one of you a friend of mine!!  aww

Thank you so much JR for living your dream and inviting me to be a small part of it!!  smile

Awe, I was really feelin' the love til' Web made that big drip comment wink.gif

Obviously the chain of events has meant the world to me.  I honestly believe I have met the love of my life through this station in FireFly.

It IS amazing how you just don't know what action you take today may have major consequences five, ten or more years down the road.

I'm grateful for all of you as friends.  I love the fact you all take part in this station.  I hope one day to get on air more but in the meantime I'm just thrilled to have you all as friends.

You know Ghost, you are one of the ONLY People we solicited as a listener from MySpace.

I remember searching for the phrase "love all kinds of music" and you came up because that was in your MySpace Bio.

We really need to start sending more offers like that to people.  You've turned into a great friend and such a regular here, if we put a little more effort into finding others we could still build this station bigger without making it too crazy of a workload.

Thanks JR!  smile  I know I never would have found the station on my own simply because there are so many internet radio stations out there for people to choose from.  So maybe doing something similar to what you used to find me would help build it up more.
