Dokken reunion ?

You may remember I told you guys that Jeff & George were joking around, and getting along great at NAMM.  Then we saw Don Dokken opening for Queensryche.  He played a solo, and joked "I'm no George Lynch!"  A sound like "ooooohhh" fell over the crowd, which surprised me (& Don), because he obviously meant it as a compliment.  Now this coming off the wire!   clap.gif

On his efforts to bring the original DOKKEN lineup back together:

Lynch: "The other thing that might be happening, which I've been trying
to get together for the last few years, is a DOKKEN reunion. I would
bet money that maybe next year it might happen. It's hard to say. But
it almost happened this year. I think where it fell apart is that...
for one thing, Jeff [Pilson, bass] wasn't going to be in the band, so
it already would have been [just] three of the original four members,
and secondly, we'd have to be opening for WARRANT [on a bill that was
also to include CINDERELLA in the headlining slot], which I didn't
think that was right. Not saying anything about WARRANT, but with us
coming back with original members, I think that was strong enough for
us to be at least a second [on the bill], if not a headliner. Don
[Dokken] had a problem with that, and I agree with him to a certain
extent. So I think next year, we'll maybe get together all four
members, including Jeff Pilson. We'll see."

On the "personal issues" between him and Don Dokken:

Lynch: "I think Don has issues with himself, which I don't really have
anything to do with. [Laughs] I have learned to sort of be more
accomodating in my old age where I don't think it'll bother me I
can't imagine it would; I've dealt with more difficult situations, you
know, than So that's OK. What I think about every day is just how fun
it would be to go out there and play for the fans and see the smiles on
their faces, and there'll be a smile on my face playing those songs
that we wrote 25 years ago. And [we'd be playing] for big crowds again
it's been a while since we've been out in front of big crowds like
that, so I mean, what's not to be happy about? [Laughs] If you can't
be happy at that point, then you might as well shoot yourself. [Laughs]
It doesn't get any better than that."

this post is a bit of a turn around from what I've heard about lynch's attitude toward the whole "dokken" thing......

It would be kool if Lynch could swallow his ego for a tour...

We will see....

I agree Willy. I didn't think it would happen, but it sounds promising. Hope they can pull it off.

IF they are smart, they will act like grown-ups, give up their mullet era hang-ups, and go make a boat load of money...
