Craigslist advice

So I'm trying out this Craigslist thing.  I put our old tv stand on it.  The original ad included pictures.  Right after I posted it (5 minutes, maybe), I got this email:

I WILL LIKE TO KNOW IF THE ABOVE MENTIONED ITEM IS STILL
AVAILABLE,PLS SEND PIX,

KEVIN.
Sent by [CompanyName]  Mail

I replied saying it's still available and sent pics.  Today I got this email:
Good,
I will send you a check from my bank to cover the cost as i am happy with your early response.anyway,i will not be available for the pick-up of the item because of the nature of my job so i got the services of a mover whom will come for the pick up of the item on my behalf.so i will like you to provide me with the following information so as to facilitate the payment for the item

1.Your full name to be on the check
2.Home or work address
3.Your phone number

As soon as you have cashed the check, my mover will come over for the
pick-up.
Have a nice day.

Does this seem weird to anyone else?

NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The most popular scam on Craigs list.  Do not sell to this guy.

In four or five weeks the bank will come back and say the check was no good, even though they cleared it originally.

By the way, I've gotten that same email about 100 times.

When Jenn put her dog on Petfinder even SHE got that email!

I always end my listings with CASH ONLY - Local Buyers Only.

For awhile I was actually putting a rant at the end that said something along the lines of "Don't bother with your offer of a cashiers check and having your movers come pick the item up. WE ALL KNOW IT'S A SCAM ALREADY, GET A REAL JOB!"

I got SO many replies from people just to say "yeah! Good job! I've gotten tons of those emails when selling stuff on Craigs"

We saw similar e-mails when we tried to rent our other house out for the Sturgis Rally! It is definately a scam!

MZ,

Yesterday I got a poorly worded email saying the person was interested in something I was selling.

I replied with my basic "let me know when you'd like to come see the item and I'll forward my address".

Today this was their response...

Hello... I really appreciate your response to my mail.I want you to
consider it sold,  pls do  withdraw the advert from craigslist to
avoid disturbance.I want you to know that i will be paying via bank
certified check .I will need you to provide me with the following.
information to facilitate the mailing of the check .
1.....Full name to write on the check
2.....Full Physical address to post the check
3.....Home & Cell Phone to contact you
**I will like you to know that you will not be responsible for
shipping i will have my mover come over as soon as you have cashed the
check** Thanks

It's terrible, but I'm always suspicious of an email that's obviously written by a person who does not speak English as a first language.

Kind of like when I get a web hosting order and the name on the credit card is "Timothy L. Peterson" and the email address is jhong_leim_tau@yahoo.com .
