My Predictions for Local Business Failures is Usually Spot On

A couple of Years ago a new club/restaurant opened not far from where I worked- called Fourty-Eight (on 48th Street). They advertised it heavily as a trendy hip  place to hang with pretty good food. Sorta a fancy martini steak kinda place.

I didn't think the place would make it. Not on this side of town. This is not a martini & steak kind of side of town. While I admire them trying to do something new & good in this neighborhood , this neighborhood is more of a cheap beer and beef jerky kinda neighborhood.

I noticed the place was closed last week. Today I drove by, and at least the building wasn't vacant very long. Going back in is another baseball themed kinda bar (similar to the one 48 replaced). I bet they will serve cheap beer and beef  jerky.

Location! Location! Location!

Well you know, there's only ONE way to find out!

We have to fill a tub of water and hold him under.  If he drowns then he's human and therefore innocent.  If he doesn't drown he's clearly a witch and we'll have to kill him.

Who want's to handle setting up the tub of water?  eh, I'll do it.  JD, what time could you stop over?  We'll webcam this thing live so everyone can watch the results biggrin.gif

Oh, you're just protecting your friend Willow!  I should have seen that coming!

Technically, it won't be us killing him, it'll be the fire.  I think ya gotta burn a witch at the stake dont'cha?

Seriously?

You're ok with driving a wooden stake into the heart of a vampire (when some of them are quite cool like say, Spike) but you draw the line at witches?

Ah, I get it.

I wouldn't hurt my little buddy either. But I wouldn't mind puttin' a scare in him for a few minutes.

I'd pull him up before the bubbles stopped, I swear nod.gif

We had a similar business start up here last year, and I didn't think they'd make it either.  They bought an old department store down on the riverfront and made it all glitzy inside.  You have to be in formal wear to go into the place, and the cheapest meal starts at $50 a pop.  It came as a complete surprise to me that they're thriving down there!!  It's surrounded by lots of smaller bars/clubs and most of the clientele for those places are beer & jerky types.  Guess there was a real niche for this business in that location.
