I was sitting here this morning looking at Little A's balloons and a memory came back to me. For several years throughout grade school we would fill a balloon full of helium, write our name, address and phone number, seal it in a bag tied to the balloon and then the class would go into a big empty field and let them go. The fun part was waiting to see if someone 500 miles away would find it and contact you. We had a few that traveled a few hundred miles. Did any of you ever do this?
I'm guessing they probably don't do this anymore with all of the wierdo's in the world.

We moved when I was in elementary school and I ended up going to 3 schools. I think each school did it, but I never seemed to be in the right grade at the right time.
We also used to write to pen pals in another school. In the third grade my pen pal's name was Kendall Jackson from Mississippi. I remember asking him if he was related to Michael Jackson and then I never heard from him again.

we did the pen pal thing with an old age home when I was in 4th grade. My lady seemed nice enough as I recall, but I remember reading about 3 pages on hip replacement and its associated pains & didn't write her again I don't think.
A class after us did the balloon thing, and I remember reading that one actually made it to Canada.
