how's your typing?

I do have my fingers in the right place and use both hands and seemed to have picked up speed over the last ten years. But I could never win a contest! Some words that I type over and over come out real fast, like my name, city, state... No more hunting and pecking, but still slower than I want!

How about you- type fast?

In the tests I've taken, I can usually run a little over 60 wpm. I don't type that fast all the time, but I can when I want/need to.

I can rock and roll pretty good, but I wonder how fast I am. It'd be cool to see if there's an online timer to try it out...idea

I'm about 55 wpm, but I don't type "correctly". I took a typing class in high school, but I had been hunt and pecking for so long, I just kind of memorized where the keys were. So I still passed the class, and I still don't type right.

I just did a Google search for typing speed test and tried this one:
http://www.typeonline.co.uk/typingspeed.php

Your speed was: 67wpm.

You made 2 mistakes, your mistakes are shown in bold text:

But it was really only one mistake. :(
"Rome" was actually correct . . . stupid test.

Heck yeah I'm 110 words per minute with 98% accuracy! I've always been a fast typist! smile.gif

I got 65 wpm with a perfect, no mistakes.  Letters I'm really fast at, but start throwing numbers in and then I'm forced to slow down and look at the keys to find them.  I never was good at typing numbers without looking at 'em.

Web, I think I had a different test than you did because I didn't have the word "Rome" in mine.

I remember my typing teacher in highschool ('82-'83). We had those IBM electric typewriters. I remember she would be typing something and get done and the machine would keep going for a few seconds because she could type faster than the machine could print the letters.

My typing teacher was like that too.  We had the new Royal electrics, but they couldn't keep up with him.  He was my favorite teacher in high school....I took 3 years of his typing classes.  A few months ago I read his obituary in the paper.  When I went to the funeral home, I couldn't believe how many of his students came to say good-bye to him.  He was a wonderful teacher.  I learned a lot from him.

man that is FAST Jules! Ok, at home I upped to 53 wpm, with 3 mistakes. I think my mistake might be trying to understand what I am typing maybe....

We had a lady in high-school who could carry on whole conversations with eye contact when typing and never miss a beat. She was amazing.smile.gif

When my wife was the chamber of commerce director here, she had a girl working for her that could type pretty fast.

The problem with her was that she would ask my wife something like "what's that event on Saturday all about?" to which my wife would reply, "Well, you typed up an info sheet for it yesterday, didn't you read it as you typed it?"

I was 57 wpm with 100% accuracy. That is shocking, considering how many times I goof up when talking to Web on Skype!smile

It looks like I average around 51 wpm, but I correct my mistakes as I go along. So I didn't have any mistakes, but that probably slowed me down.

My mother & sister were both excellent typists & instilled in me the importance of typing correctly. I was always obcessed with typing, though. So I had the typewriter (My dad got us a pretty blue electric one for Christmas one year) set up in my room. I would type up lyrics & songwriting credits to songs I loved, and keep them in a folder. When people needed to know lyrics, I could pull them out of my folder. I was like one of those websites! Still have them all too smile.gif To my mother's chagrin, I used my 2 thumbs & pointer fingers, but was quite fast. Typing class wasn't available until high school, and I felt I couldn't wait. But when I was older and could take class, I dove into it. I made sure I learned the numbers, which my mom always had to look for. And within just a couple of months, I made it to the Connecticut finals for a big typing contest. I choked during the contest, but it was a fun family trip!

I believe I was 60 something words per minute. Haven't tested myself in a long time, but am still fast. I absolutely LOVE to type!
