Any CD Recommendations??

I'm a member of BMG Music and just checked my points.  It seems I've accumulated enough points to earn a free CD, but I gotta tell ya, I just haven't heard anything new that I really want to have.  Anybody have any suggestions or recommendations?  I have to use these points within the next couple of days or I'm going to lose 'em.  Rock/Metal are my fave genres, but I listen to a lot of different music too....no Country please cuz that just isn't my thing.  Other than that, I'm open to anything you'd care to suggest.  Thanks everybody!!  smile

Do you like Christian music at all, Ghost?

If you do, Lincoln Brewster's "Let the Praises Ring - The Best of Lincoln Breswter" rocks.

Oh, it doesn't have to be new music JD.  I know you're familar with lots of older stuff and probably have some that I don't have.  So feel free to chime in.  smile

If its still available, & if you don't have it, how about Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden. That one still kicks butt. I'm mad, I SWORE I had that cd. I miss it. I bet it got lifted years ago...

...a little Rusty Cage, a little Slaves and Bulldozers.....great stuff!! headbang.gif

I just checked my email and there was an email from BMG.  If I use my points, I not only get one free cd, but with the promotional code they sent me, I can also get 3 others and just pay the shipping on them.  clap.gif  So for 4 cds, it will cost me around $15.....that's not too shabby.  Now I really need help.  hmm

They don't have Badmotorfinger, but they do have A Sides by Soundgarden.  That's a definite possibility!  Thanks JD.  smile

Miles Davis, heck yeah!  I'm ashamed to say I don't own anything by him.  So I'll look to see if they have any.  Thanks Ray! smile

Sandy ya might really like Kind Of Blue by Myles. Its his most popular, but really probably his best all around collection. That whole album just is awesome first note to last.smile.gif

By chance are either of those notes Bb? I think Bb is the mostest awesomest note.

I'll look for that one JD.  I was kinda hoping the Jazz Doctor would have a good recommendation in Jazz for me.  If this one isn't available, what you would suggest in Charlie Parker?  I like what you've played of his music.

it'll probably be easy to find Sandy- but the Ken Burns Jazz Series has a Charlie Parker cd out that is just a great overview of the best of his stuff throughout his career. Great collection!

I know you like hard rock & metal. Can you tell me your top 5 favorite hard rock / HM acts? Then I can maybe help with some suggestions.

Ok LS, aside from the classics like Zeppelin, AC/DC, Megadeth, etc., I love Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Zakk Wylde/Black Label Society, Disturbed, and Korn.  That's more than 5, but that should give you an idea of what I listen to.  smile

Yup, that certainly does.  Can't help you though.  After AC/DC, it all got a little heavier than what I enjoy and / or know much of.  Did you hear that Rob Zombie is my in-laws' neighbor?  I think that's so bizarre.

Whoa, I think it would be kinda cool to live next to him.  I've watched a lot of interviews he's done, and even though he looks all freaky, he's actually pretty down to earth.  I don't know what he'd be like to live next door to, but I could probably dig it, haha.

Yeah, I was kind of afraid I listen to a lot heavier music than most people here do, but I do appreciate the help. Hey, if you have any other suggestions of stuff you really like though, I'd be interested to see if I already have them.  smile

Alot of what I get these days is an artist's greatest hits...that way I fill in what I'm missing song wise!

Ghost, do you have/like any Arctic Monkeys? Ultimo turned me on to them, and they sound like something you might like. In more of the funk type genre, how about Gnarles Barkley?

Have you heard of HellYeah? I "archived" some of my mom's music to my computer this weekend, and she suggested I take that one too, but I really haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. But the way she described it sounds like something you might like. My mom likes Ozzy, Megadeth, Rob Zombie, etc., so it can't be too bad.

Mz, I've heard Artic Monkeys but don't own any.  That's another group I'd consider....thanks!!  smile  I'll look up Gnarles Barkley and HellYeah to see what they sound like; I'm not familiar with either one.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions!!  I'll think I'll be ordering tonight before my points are gone and the promo ends.  smile
