Stupid Credit Card Companies

I just got a letter from HSBC Bank telling me my Brewers Mastercard has been cancelled and I should cut up the card.

They claim it's because of derogatory information on my credit report, but I just checked it and there's nothing on there that wasn't on there two years ago.

I think the REALITY is they don't like the fact I've never carried a balance on the card in two years.  The few times I've used it I've paid it in full at the end of the month.  They make no money that way.

Yeah.

I checked my credit reports after I got the letter, because you get one free report a year.

Everything that I currently have is on time and satisfactory.

The only negatives are about three years in the past when I was going through a tough time with the business.

It just ticks me off because I liked my Brewers card smile.gif

I try not to use credit anymore, but I have one high limit one and then the one low limit one they just cancelled. Clark Howard says you should always have two cards available.

I've got a mastercard and my target card, that's it. In fact I rarely, if ever use either. I'm trying to be debt free in 3 yrs! hopefully the car paid off and the credit cards at right at the same time. Its not always easy, but soo worth it.smile

Oh yeah, I got a Target card too. Never use that one either. They'll probably close on me next.

That sucks, JR.

We have two cards, one we use for personal things which is a Capital One and I have a business card from Citibank.

I pay my business card off every month and have for many years now without issue. I'm not a huge Citibank fan, but this is a "QuickBooks" card so I can just download the statements right into my Quickbooks for almost no data entry.

I've grumbled about many credit card companies but then we got that MBNA card. After dealing with those MBNA fools, all the others seem like saints.

I'm slowly working us out of debt.  I figure within another year we'll be debt free.  I've cut up all of our cards except Visa; this is the only card I want to have left when all is said and done.

But I also foresee my husband needing a new truck right around the time our credit card bills are gone.  I'm hoping he'll buy a relatively "new" used one instead of spanking brand new one.  My car will last quite a while yet.  It's a '96 but I only have 54,000 miles on it and I make sure everything is taken care of on schedule.

Yeah I do JD.  When I worked for the City school system, the school I was at was a block away, haha.  Now that I work for the township schools, the building I work in is about a mile from me.  It's convenient to be close to work, and with gas prices the way they are, it saves me A LOT  because I don't need a lot of gas to get to work.  I could walk to work, and sometimes I do.

My youngest girl goes to the township high school, which is around 8 miles from where we live.  Because she attends under MI's School of Choice, she needs her own transportation to and from school every day......riding a school bus is not available for S.O.C. students.  So I end up using a little more than a quarter tank a week getting her to and from school and myself to work.

Sometimes I wish our City schools were better than they are, because we live right across the street from the high school she should be going to.  My eldest graduated from this school, but I pulled my youngest from the city schools back when she started 7th grade.  hmm

When my eldest was a Freshman, she began 9th grade with over 900 other 9th graders at this school.  By the time she graduated 4 years later, her graduating class was down to 296 kids.  I couldn't believe this many kids dropped out or failed too many classes!!!  WTF is going on nowdays??!!  It's just unreal what's happening.
