Favorite driving song?

I do not have a fave myself, but thought that Jr might like this one:

I have been SINGING on my way to work each morning though. LOUD either cd cranked or MP3 player on max volume. It really improves my morning mood and it is funny how now that I am almost 40, I do not care how I look!

Bat Out Of Hell may not seem the ideal soundtrack for driving.

But Meat Loaf's rock classic was voted the number one driving anthem in a survey of more than 2,000 motorists, it was revealed yesterday.

However, the song was unlikely to awaken the speed demons. The survey, by Saga Motor Insurance, found drivers who listened to blues numbers were most likely to be caught speeding.

And comparatively mild country songs were the next most likely to induce drivers to speed, followed by reggae and hip-hop, and then classical.

According to the poll 49 per cent of those who listened to blues and 45 per cent who tuned in to country had committed a speeding offence.

Just 22 per cent who listened to talk-based radio stations admitted having a minor accident, compared with 78 per cent who listened to music.

Runner-up to Meat Loaf in the in-car charts was Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, with Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild third and Queen's Don't Stop me Now fourth.

Saga Group chief executive Andrew Goodsell said: "Interestingly, the research shows that although certain types of music are often thought of as having a relaxing effect on the listener, there is no proof that this results in a more tempered driving style.

oh man, I'm not even a big Ozzy fan, but its Crazy Train for me. You know that feeling when you finally bust out of a traffic jam on the freeway, and its clear sailing ahead? Thats a good time to throw on Crazy Train and try and break the land speed record for awhile.smile

Oh yeah, same here!

I don't think there's one song or even one exact genre I like to listen to when I drive.  But I am an avid car singer, so I like to have on something I can sing to.

a way I make a 90 minute drive seem like 45 is to throw on Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run. 45 minutes of pure awesome tunage so good, I want to play it again when its done and sing along again.

Ya start off with Thunder Road and just go from there. End with Jungleland. awesome!

Oh yeah - both good ones.  Just don't wanna crash at the end of "Detroit Rock City" like the narrator of the song does!

One of the best feelings in the world, and such a great song, the way it captures the feeling of that outlawed drive!  I love Neil Peart.  floating.gif

What about long drives? When it comes to long drives, that's one of the few times I prefer to listen to a whole album. I particularly like Roger Waters' Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking or Amused to Death.

LOL, thanks!  I knew you like those albums too.  But I think they're most appreciated as a full album instead of individual songs.

I was talking about this last night and remembered how much I used to love "Enter Sandman" on long drives. There's nothing quite like some really good Metallica when you're putting "the pedal to the metal!" laughing.gif

Pun intended...
That would make for a good driving song, with the driving rhythm.  (Pun intended again.)

I usually throw in some rock a billy if I want to get from point A to point B fast. This also works when I need to clean house and want to shake a leg doing it.
