CONSPIRACY- THERE WAS NO JOHN CAFFERTY!!!!

HEY!

I had the station on last night and I heard a song that FLOORED ME. I swore it was a Bruce Springsteen song that I had never heard before. IT WAS SO GOOD. I raced in from washing my face yelling WHAT SPRINGSTEEN SONG IS THIS?!?!? I KNOW EVERYTHING, WHAT IS THIS??! I looked at the player window and it was John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band "Tender Years" from the "Eddie and the Cruisers" soundtrack. NO way. NO WAY!! THAT IS A FARCE. I THOUGHT SO FROM YEARS AGO WITH THE HIT SONG I belive called "On the Dark Side". It was too much like Bruce, but I let it slide. 15 yrs later I hear this "Tender Years". THAT WAS SO BRUCE SINGING, THAT WAS SOOOO CLARENCE CLEMONS ON SAX. I think we been dune duped people. THERE IS NO JOHN CAFFERTY AND THE BEAVER BROWN BAND> That was SO SO SO SPRINGSTEEN!!!

Digging into the archives here, I missed some good ones, JD If I hadn't seen the VH1 Where are They Now, I would have agreed with you 100%. They are still performing and have only had recognizable songs under The Eddie and The Cruisers name.

man sparky I still get fired up about this. I think that this band would have had more success if they would have just come out and said "we're the best bruce springsteen and the e street band immitation band there is", instead of just blatanly ripping off the entire sound. I wonder if bruce ever made a comment on these guys- I dunno, I bet Bruce let 'em slide...

They did have three hits and two GOOD songs under their own name.

TOUGH ALL OVER was great, C-I-T-Y was good, VOICE OF AMERICA'S SONS was ok.

IMHO

It's net shorthand for "In My Honest Opinion".

I saw John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band in Little Rock, Arkansas when I was about 16.  They were opening for Richard Marx.  We had snuck inside the theatre and were waiting inside the lobby and were acting like loons (doing cartwheels and all kinds of weird stuff).  ANYWAY, the sax guy from the band comes out and starts talking to us.  We asked if we could go backstage, but he said that it was way too crazy back there for us.  He did, however, let us go watch Richard Marx do his sound check in the theatre, which was really awesome.  Sad, I don't even know his name, but he was a great guy and I loved the band all the more because they seemed so nice.
