I read a few of your comments here and on your MySpace, and I just wanted to share with you some words that I hope will make you feel better about your decision to move.
I know you say that having Jenn nearby is the one comfort that you have about your decision. However let's think of if you didn't do this at all:
You seized the opportunity to do something different in your life. You found something special, tender, and loving about Jennifer. You met her and you both seem to love each other very much. She was probably given to you as a "Gift" from God.... if you choose not to go to NC and you chose to not take this chance, you would have to live the rest of your life a "boat potato". What's boat potato? I'll explain,
I am reading a book titled, "If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat"... it applies to your life. You've seized the opportunity to "walk on water", you are taking a chance. You are using the expensive china, you just don't have it up in your attic in a box. You are actually taking the chance, and getting out of the boat. Like the story in the Bible of the 12 Disciples who were in the boat, and Jesus called to come to him in the storm, the only one who got out of the boat was Peter, and he actually did it. All the others were "boat potatoes" they had too much fear to attempt such a feat.
So with this, I am saying I commend you JR, you are actually "walking on water", so many of us wouldn't have the courage to do what you just did!!
Thanks D, and you're right, I needed to take the chance to see what we have.
It's incredibly hard to drop everything to "see" what Jennifer and I have but if things work out then it will have been well worth the gamble.
If things don't work out I'll have no regrets, I really won't.
But the next year will be painful, being so far from everyone ELSE that I love.
It's not a matter of "seeing" Riggs, you've already seen it...that's what compelled you to take the chance at a new life and go there! Darlene's right, it took a lot of courage to make such a change in your life. When fearing the unknowns and missing the comforts you left behind take hold, remind yourself of all the wonderful things - and people - that compelled you to take a chance!
